Seems crazy to me that HE contacted YOU about this guitar and wouldn't take a pic. I would think owning a music store would entail opening up guitar cases and inspecting the guitars. So pull your phone out and take a damn pic. And to imply that he would charge for that is ridiculous. It's part of your job. Reminds me a of Reverb ad saying they were going to increase price to pay for bumps. L-O-fucking-L!

I agree that 15 miles is not a long trip but it's a completely unnecessary trip if the ding is too big. Just my opinion but if you want to sell something be prepared to take pics. I'd still not buy it until I had played it (since it's only 15 miles) but the ding could be a non-starter.

A dealer is trying to make money. Why should he jump through hoops just to GIVE a guitar away? As a buyer, ask for all the favors and deals you want...but when you hit the limit with the seller, don't start calling him a dick...

Because the seller is the one who approached the OP is he not? Guy posted a WTB ad, seller approaches him and says I have this guitar but I can't send you pics?

I would have probably drove there for 15 minutes away but that's me and that's not the point. The buyer wasn't willing to so...if the seller wanted to sell he needs to send some pics.

If not, oh well. Looks like seller still has the guitar.

No,it wouldn't annoy me if I wanted that particular guitar at that price. I would have driven there with cash in hand,played the guitar,inspected the blemish...and bought it. It wasn't that far to drive,even if you were in NYC.

I'm reading through this as a buyer AND as a dealer.

I deduced the guitar is still factory sealed in the box by what the seller wrote. The second he unseals that box to see a dimple that the factory tag already told him is there, the next guy is going to want a discount for an open box "USED" guitar.

Also, he is selling this for way off of list price. Way off. Like this is what a used version is going to sell for on eBay. I'd imagine a small dimple, in a factory sealed box guitar is going to be in better condition than a NEW guitar hanging on the wall of a Guitar Center for more than two weeks is or a guitar from some random eBay seller.

Yeah, as a buyer, I normally want pictures. But, as a seller, I have had guys ask me to demo guitars or amps or pedals that are still sealed in the box. I have to open them in order for the customer to try them right? I kid you not, I have had guys ask me to open boxes for them to demo an item and then when they like the item, they have asked me if they can get a "new" one still sealed in the box. I have also had guys try and get a discount on an item I opened just for them since it is a "demo" model or "open box".

And as has been said already, it is a guitar, and it is only 15 miles away. You want this guitar in your hands first before buying, especially when it is that easy. I live near LA and a 15 mile drive is a major pain. With a wife, kids and three businesses, I'm still going to check out this guitar in person.

This guy gave you a price based on a quick and easy sale for him. If you make it otherwise, maybe he should price it otherwise?

As a small business owner, I could give 2 fucks if you buy the guitar. Someone else will buy it and I didn't need to take time to unbox and take pictures just to save you driving 15 miles.

For $500 bucks discount, I would make the time, check it out. Agree on the purchase if applicable...If not upper deck their bathroom and leave.

I have to agree with this. A 15 minute drive for a good opportunity to score big on a guitar you've been looking for....worth it to me. Worst case scenario, you don't like what you see and move on. At least you'd give yourself the opportunity. I wouldn't worry about pics either, if he told me I could swing by and check it out in person.
