Wow....just wow! (ESP Iron Cross content)

I know taste in guitars is a personal preference and we have opinions all over the map. But this $35k thing is just ridiculous, as stated you can get these for $9,999.99 with free shipping (still over priced IMO).

A quick check of MF, I found these sigs. There are some sig bargains out there for sure...but there're some expensive fugly ones too!

Reasonably priced sig guitar (I mean, the artists need to make some money too!):

I like this Vai sig, too bad my playing isn't up to where I'd need/want this, but I like it.

The only sig I have is this, and it was cheaper when I purchased mine, they've gone up in price:

...and it is the closest to the original Casino you can find new. It plays and sounds great if you like the sound of a Casino that is. I need to do some set-up tweaking, but it was playable out of the box.

I don't get this one, though...I think it is fugly not to mention the price...

sure metallica is the reason and i dont disagree, but when you say thing like now that guy can write his own check i took it like you thought he was making a fortune and trying to sell his product and thats not the case with ken, he doesnt go out of his way to sell his product, its just word of mouth. and when it takes a few years to get one and the fact that he builds very few i dont think hes getting all that rich.

you can have 3 or 4 used hamers and i u know you will be happy, i personally love the work ken does and will take one of his guitars over 4 hamers, but thats just a matter of opionion.

my whole post was not directed at you scott, i was just trying to say that ken builds a great guitar and doesnt advertise to sell guitars, i wanted to let people know that his 7k guitar is as good or better than or brands 7k guitars that people have no probs buying. you get what you pay for when you buy a kl.

i admit im a metallica fan, i have some of james and kirks models, ive been pissed lately that esp is charging so much for the iron cross and i did want one but not for 10k, i would spend 4500 to 5k. i do know a few guys that have to own every single model and i think its guys that want to collect them. i personally play of of my guitars or i wont buy them. if any of them were shitty i would sell them and infact i have owned a few that didnt impress me and i sold them.

Hey Zao, I consider myself a fanboi as well :thumbsup: . I agree with you regarding how ESP is charging too much on JH and KH sigs. I was really excited about the IC and wanted to get one when it comes out. Unfortunately, I didn't expect it to be 10 grand!!

I think ESP failed to realize what their company stood for and that is to make quality instruments for the not so willing to spend a fortune market.

And to make things worse.....the IC is not gonna come out in LTD version. I guess I have to customize my own now. :doh:
 
prices for sig guitars are getting out of hand,I have had gas for jem for years but $2600, well actually here in Germany they cost more( $3400) no way, if I really wanted a guitar like a KL or whatever, I would contact Ran Guitars in Poland they will build you you one for a lot less then KL. They cant be to bad if Jeff Waters is using their stuff and he also uses Loboga Mr. Hector amps, both companies located in Poland.

the days of buying stuff because famous people have it are over for me, I simply have other more important priorities .

Here are a few. The guitar is Chechen topped, weights just 7 lbs, red side dot lights. Neck never needs adjustment, and it doesn't move at all with the seasons. What tells me it's special is these are just EMGs, but EMGs just don't clean up this well usually. Low action with no buzzing at all, arrives new set up like you'd never want to change anything about it. Cleans are stellar, and distorted tones don't blur the notes. Ken is a class act all the way. I"m a big Metallica fan, have been since 1984. But whenever I think about a Metallica sig, I think, "I could get another one of these instead." After all, Hetfield did. Despite what I feel about Metallica, I don't own a single Hetfield signature guitar, though I do also have an ESP MX-2. The Hetfield sigs have always been interpretations of the guitars he really uses.

are you the original owner of that kl or is that the one that was on ebay the end of last year, i was close to buying a guitar that looked like that from a dude on ebay and i made him a nice offer for close to what it sold for if he would end the auction but he wanted to let it run. i liked it alot, let me know if you ever decide to sell it.
 
Hey there Zao - I ordered it from KL directly, so no it wasn't the one on eBay. I requested a Chechen top like Hetfield's first, and I didn't want a lot of figure, and had to wait to see if one came open in his run, and it did. First class all the way, and I've got another guitar being built by him now, a Les Paul style one.

i definately wanna see your lp when you get it, i seen a few other shapes hes done, one was similar to a prs, then there was a sg, lp and v. i think the v was one of my favs with that headstock like he uses on the explorers.

I used to own a cocobolo kl exp that i got from guitarslingerans that was really nice but i sold it to tonemonster so i could get one with my own specs.
 
That Iron Cross guitar is ugly IMO. I don't like ESP's Eclipse body shape either. The lower horn is entirely too small. I'll take any Gibson LP over an ESP Eclipse any day of the week.

my brother wasnt inlove with his vintage white esp eclipse and sold it today to gc for 700, he likes his les pauls better, he didnt lose much on the ec and didnt feel like selling it on ebay.

i like the iron cross but i wouldnt spend 10k for one, i think thats too much cash for me.
im sure theres plenty that will buy them and the ouija, i only like certain models and wont buy every met guitar, i only buy the ones i really like. ive passed on alot of metallica models cause i just didnt like them like the kh-1,ouija,truckster and grynch. i still wanna get a jh-1 someday.

I could get about 20 cool guitars for that kinda money

I don't get why people want to play a replica of what someone else plays. (unless it actually has the features you like regardless of the artist (i.e., although I'm a vai fan, I like JEM on its own merit)) The worst of all is EVH. specifically the precise evh replica.
 
I asked the seller if he was on crack. He responded " no It's some other stuff I got from my dealer lol" . :confused:
