I think the SL2x is not quite the route I'm looking to go (I need a pretty brutal module for modern rock/metal for a project I'm in now)

I only have experience with the EG5 - I just wanted to say I don't think it's "brutal." It's very high-gain for sure, but
it is still somewhat..."polite."

Yea, maybe my definition of 'brutal' is subjective... let's put it this way: I use the 3/4 with a lil EQ post and it gets pretty damn close to what I like in a 'modern' sound. Then again, maybe all these new young whippersnappers are even more brutal that me.
