wait a minute giles aren't you the person who told me to sell my 1980 Marshall JMP 2203 instead of modding it or boosting it cause it won't get the tone i'm looking for? LOL!!! I hope you find a great 2203...when you do, let me know and i'll bring mine over we can compare them. Hope all is well.

knowing your taste Giles, I recommend a non-RI Marshall 2203 JCM or JMP with 6550s. I can say for sure that the older models seem to have less high end than RIs do. It may be due to components ageing or something else, but there is a difference.

Ummm, not really. My bone stock '77 JMP with 6550s is a lot brighter than my RI.

I have a nice 2203 100w it's modded, but it can be bypassed. This thing sounds sick stock and has the orig (good) output transformer! Top$$ define that..lol
