So now I gotcha attention. Lol. Let's share stories about:
When n were was the first time you heard or played a Diezel amp!

My story is this. I went to chuck levins Washington music down by DC. To play the G system it was just released. I was delivering a load so I had to park my tractor trailer in the mall out back n walk in a snowstorm that night. I get in n he's hooking up g n says hit it. I strummed a chord or two and said to the guy holy shit it sounds amazing. He turns n says I didn't even hook up the g system yet. It was a Herbert. I played for a bit n the guy says. You never heard a Diezel. I was like no. I dunked w g for a lil n left. For a year that tone was stuck in my head. I had a framus cobra at time. Not even close. Year later I bought a brand new Herbert. Then bought a vh4 n then a Hagen. I just sold Herbert after almost 7 yrs w it.

So I ask wtf is w Diezel the tone is untouchable unforgettable unstoppable !
It's like the holy grail of amps when u plug in. And as I love them all Hagen is the new King.
:worship: :worship: Hagen!

I was playing my VH4 all day sunday in my new shop and it was off the charts good. Germans know how make good shit...

Fahrvergnügen brad. Lol!!!! Every time I plug into Diezel it's just like the first time I heard it.

all i had heard were clips. youtube, endorsed artist's cd's, etc. knew i wanted a herbert....badly. never had a chance to play one. didn't really want the VH4, just the herbert.

scored mine from a bro off craigslist at a great price. the second i plugged it in, i got it. crazy cool tones. i never leave channel 2+. paired with the isp sub, it is insane.

but rez has me gassing to try channel 3 on the hagen.

I bought my Einstein without ever playing one. I'll never sell it
Clips of Andy Wood and Adam Jones tonez is what pointed me to Diezel.
I'm currently saving for another but the choices man . . . . . . Herb-vs-VH4-vs-Hagen

BTW: I also have not used a OD pedal since I got mine.

Happened to me ;)

Can't go wrong with Diezel

Honestly...Diezel amps aren't all that great...FOR EVERYONE. I guess what I mean is...People either love 'em, or really don't dig 'em much. Diezel amps are unique...REALLY unique. They have a feel, response (not to mention something pretty unusual happening in the mids) that other amps just can't seem to duplicate. They really don't sound much like any other amps that I can think of. Guys who are into "familiar" sounding amps, just don't "get" them...But I do. The first time I played a Herbert...I couldn't believe my ears.

I bought my first herbie without ever trying one and it's been a love affair eversince.

I fully understand not for everyone this is a thread I just wanted to hear from the Diezel lovers when they first experienced the mighty amp. And which model. Your absolutely right " NO Other Amp Can Duplicate " and I love that there's a millin versions of Marshall's n fenders n peaveys all modded up to wanna be that wanna be !

Diezel just has that secret sauce that tastes like no one else. And has a very unique sensitive feel. Weird how I feel like when I play it it takes off n plays itself never have to fight w it.

Thanks Peter

My story is kind of interesting... I was picking apart a number of my fave players' tone - their gear, their technique, their style... Of course, it's been said to death, but basically, the tone of Tool is what led me to Diezel. I did more research, and then some more, and before I knew it - BOOM - VH4 in da hizzy. And ya, it was like "oh my.....um....holy SHIT!!!". Was like stumbling upon a secret potion or something. Well, since that day I've had a Diezel in my repertoire - or two - and I've never looked back. I've played a lot of amps, had a lot of amps, and will probably continue to have a number of good heads run through my session space...but of the ones that are keepers, Diezel are definitely in the mix. The tone they offer, and the way in which they play are just incredible and totally different than the run-of-the-mill amps out there today, and, actually, most of the top-end boutiquers too.

As for the Hagen... That amp's got pixie dust on 'er. No doubt about it, that one is just righteously special

Peace,
and hey....great thread

In the late 90s I was carrying around three amps for every gig. A Peavey Classic 410 for clean and crunch , a Peavey 5150 for rhythm and a Marshall JCM 800 2210 for leads. Tired of lugging around all that stuff I went to the biggest store nearby, checked all multichannel heads and ended up with a Marshall TSL100. While the TSL isn't a bad amp I always felt it was too much of a compromise. The clean was prettey good, but for rhythm and lead I couldn't get the sounds I had in my head.

So I was looking for an alternative, but the amps I found in the stores around didn't do it for me. I wanted something completely satisfying and so I decided to drive a few hours to a boutique store to check some brands which weren't available in the big stores at that time. The first amp I tried there was the VH-4 and after five minutes I knew my search was over. Cleans and crunch were good, but channels three and four blew me away. Channel three was ultra tight, punchy and even with higher gain settings you could still hear every note while playing chords. There was no fizzyness to find no matter what settings I tried. Channel four sounded like channel 3 on steroids with great sustain and attack. What really impressed me, too, was, that this amp - with all this gain - was dead quite. So I took this baby home and I'm still in love after eleven years of playing it.

After some time with the amp I asked Peter to change the power tubes from 6L6 to EL34 and after that it sounded even better to me. The way Peter treated me as a customer was incredible - he is really great and I can't thank him enough for building this very inspiring and perfect tone machine.

Great thread idea.

Like a lot of owners on here I bought my 1st Diezel unseen and unheard. I was looking for a new amp having be faithful to solid state Tech 21 gear for 8 years+. Was craving a bigger and better tone. Had been loving my tube free life but knew that if I wanted "that" sound it was going to have to be tubes and not some boggo off the shelf Marshall.

To be honest the thing that really sold me on Diezel were videos on You Tube, the reputation from users and this forum.

First Einstein experience didn't go too well as the shop that sold me it hadn't checked it prior to despatch, it was partially damaged upon arrival so returned for refund but in the short time that I had it I knew that it had tone. This was an older closed back V30 combo.

Search continued and eventually I scored an newer open back K-100 combo and arranged delivery direct from the seller. Never trust couriers!!! Bizarrely this amps serial number is a combination of my wifes and my own lucky numbers. Fate? Couldn't say for sure....

Since playing my first gig with this little beauty in Jan 2011 I have done maybe 100 shows with it and every single one has been awesome. Apart from the 2 where things went a little awry (and even they were great until the amp went weird or blew the damn speaker…) but Peter and Jens stepped up to the plate with quick advice and the amp was fixed in no time and at little expense.

I have to say that to me anyway, its like a Diezel amp is an extension of the guitar, which is an extension of my musical feel. I have never had that in any other amp. Touch responsiveness. Screaming tone, feedback (controllable). From the unreal cleans to the luscious semi dirty tones. Incredible filth too, no shit!!!! This ones got it all. Lead tone for miles. Kicks my butt every night.

Interesting thing is I have had any number of muso buddies, and indeed members of bands who have been on the same bill as us complimenting and remarking on the tone favourably. Not just a "Hey man , good sound". More of a "WTF is that, I love it!!!".

What I mean is its not just my ears.......

A non muso who comes to see us regularly, and has done for years saw me on Friday night. This chap is in his late fifties. Loves his music. Came up to me after the show and said "Since you got this amp you have been playing better and better, sounds wonderful."

I really have felt this about Diezels, like I said, the amp is an extension of what I am trying to express musically, but I am not fighting it anymore. Its making things I could previously not do possible. Now that is quite something.....

Since owning Einsten I also have removed all OD/Dist/Boost pedals from my board. No longer required.

ROCK well and truly on!!! :D

Some cool stories keep em coming. I ve had the same thing said omg I love your amp tone. "Straight in to Herbert" no od or boosts, hundreds of shows n even a few pros played thru it during sound check. Now it will be Hagen's turn.
What I love about Hagen set aside its a mix between herb/vh4 is that it has this "Grind" to it that the ladder two do not have. Like upper mid cutting power.

My story is similar to others here.
I've played on and off over the years, I was in a thrash metal band when I was younger. I bought a TSL Marshall in the late nineties thinking it would be versatile and give me the tone I was looking for. After trying everything from boost pedals to attenuators, I got frustrated and became uninspired to even play guitar.
I stopped playing for a few years then traded someone a guitar for a VHT amp and started playing more and more.
I've always Loved Adams Jones tone and figured what the hell and bought a Herbert from a board member here.
I was instantly blown away. Not only was this the tone I'd been searching for, I found myself playing more and really playing in a way I never thought I'd be able to.
After a year and a half with the Herbert the curiosity of the VH4 started to get to me, the Hagens started shipping so I sold off the Herb. and went for it. As much as I loved the Herbert and hope to have another one someday, I couldn't be happier with the Hagen. Everytime I play it I never want to turn it off.
I recently joined a local thrash metal band and am so happy with how this amp cuts in the mix.
The other guitar player is using a Mesa Road king which is a killer amp also, but the Hagen has it's own mojo going on.
Both the other guitar player and singer have commented on how killer the Hagen sounds.
I'm a Diezel player for life,
I may have another amp at some point to run a stereo or WDW rig but a Diezel will always be in the mix for me.

Kinda like a chainsaw, in my opinion... Not at all in a bad way, but 'chainsaw' came to mind when I got mine up to the heavier digits on the MV.

My story started with a '75 Marshall JMP 50 watter modded by Peter in his earlier days, it has the best dirt channel i ever heard thru a Marshall, it was wide open and big (well bigger than a stock Marshall lol) in the low end too ( boy i miss that amp!)
I have a Diezel VH4 and HAGEN and think i will be a Diezel player till i meet my maker!
Can't explain what it is but it "does" it for me.

I had never played or heard any Diezel when I bought my Hagen. But it was a chance I was willing to take after hearing several youtube clips and after reading through numerous threads here on Rig-Talk.

I rules! Definitely!
