WTF is with Diezels ?

Some cool stories keep em coming. I ve had the same thing said omg I love your amp tone. "Straight in to Herbert" no od or boosts,hundreds of shows n even a few pros played thru it during sound check. Now it will be Hagen's turn.
What I love about Hagen set aside its a mix between herb/vh4 is that it has this "Grind" to it that the ladder two do not have. Like upper mid cutting power.

Kinda like a chainsaw, in my opinion... Not at all in a bad way, but 'chainsaw' came to mind when I got mine up to the heavier digits on the MV.

Oh man, now you've got me interested! I love my Herbert, but a 'chainsaw grind' is exactly what I've been seeking for years. Are there any heavy clips of this type of tone?

I was 12, loved SRV, Gilmour, etc. and had a Strat and a Mesa Lonestar. I was browsing at GC and brought a Tele to the sound room, plugged in to the VH4, Channel 3 ... incredible! Brought in an SG and I was hooked. Finally got 1 after saving for 5 years. Love it more than my Herbert, and GASing for an Einstein and Hagen.

Look familiar? I freakin' LOVE that guitar. I yanked the demon pickup in the bridge and replaced it with a JB and it's even better.


My story is, I had heard about Diezel on the internet and what not, but the first time I saw and heard one in person was when I was actually buying my Framus Cobra from a guy off of craigslist. He had a Herbert also and I was blown away, mostly at the features and quality of the amp. I then understood why they were so expensive, but you get what you pay for. I bought a Herbert a couple months later from San Francisco Guitar Center.

That's where i first tried a Herbert and got hooked. Orlando,FL studio in 2003.

I remember hearing Billy Corgan's VH4 in person at my first rock concert (5/10/00 Smashing Pumpkins Birmingham,AL) and it was the most bone crushing yet clear thing i'd ever heard.

I had a pod xt live before and not the money to buy a real tube amp + box.
Then I went to the music store and asked them for a high quality metal amp that has good cleans and a 2nd master volume.
The guy recommended me the herbert, I tested it and saved my money for 2 1/2 years to afford a used(!) one, but I thought:

My story is pretty lame. Started playing guitar when I turned 17. Dad gave me a bitchin' Fender Strat as a present haha. I was playing through an old Polytone 104 he had laying around in his storage. played with that thing and a Fender Hotrod for 2-3 years. Tried so hard to figure out the tone in my head and the tone I loved from bands that, as I found out later, all had a Diezel in their rig. Tried endlessly to get the tones out of my amps... didn't work to well... then one day, in 2008, I saw the band Dir En Grey live for the first time and focused on their guitarist, Kaoru (my biggest inspiration). I noticed he was playing an amp I had never seen before (at that time) and I remembered the name, Diezel. The next day, I did tons of research and found out the tone I loved so much from all these different bands was coming from a Diezel. I watched videos and sound clips on line and decided, the VH4 was exactly what I was looking for. From that day I saved up until I was 20 and bought the VH4 in January 2011. I am very young (as some say), but I know good tone and I am working hard to get my playing consistant. I don't want to let the name or tone of Diezel down

Clips don't do it justice, even when they're awesome clips (ie Niilz, Reza, etc). The 3D you experience in the same room is off the hook... You have to be there. That's when it becomes all too apparent what kinda mojo the Hagen has. Similarly, I remember going through a mess of amps with my VH4 in the room, I was trying them all on, and loving them. Finally got back around to playing the VH4 and it was INSTANT. The 3D effect in the room, and this coming after playing Mesa, Bogner, Mako, and several other high gainers - all of which, excellent amps in their own right. The V just went BOOM. Well, that same 3D is there, but the Hagen's got the grind unlike any other Diezel I've played... And again, I have yet to hear it perfectly in a clip.

I bought my first herbie without ever trying one and it's been a love affair eversince.

I am right there as well. I bought my Herbert sight unseen, never tried one. I can't even tell you how blown away I have been by this amp! Special thanks to Jens for his tweaking genius.

I proceeded to buy a VH4S (now sold), an Einstein (now sold), only sold to then order a Hagen as soon as I heard about it being offered...I have #10, thanks Peter.

No matter which Diezel you try, they ALL deliver, period!! Oh and have I mentioned the cabs? The German made, front loaded monsters!!

You just can't go wrong and when I hear people asking which should they buy, I say...as many as you can possibly afford

I have only had the chance to play 1 VH4 at The Axe Palace in Walpole, MA.
Nick was very cool and let me try it out nice and loud too.
Ever since then I can't sleep! I need this amp ASAP.

Played a VH4 through a Mills 212 and a Bogner 212 at Marc's Guitar Shop in Wausau, WI of all places...

It was

One of the best tones I've ever heard in person and tied with an old Bogner XTC for my fav amp I've played. I'll never forget that tone. Peter Diezel is the shit!!! Awesome tone master/engineer and one of the nicest guys in the business.

Played Corpses ( now dwisteds ) herbie, fantastic amp, always thought a CCV would be the amp for me, wrong. Posted a thread about Diezels, had offers for both a herbie and VH4, general consensus was that I'd probably gel more with the VH4, I went for it and love it, I call it the devils chainsaw

I think that the Diezel are superb amps. I've been playing a lot of different amps in the last 15 years and my quest for the tone I idealize got pretty much over when I got the Einstein. I can't really explain why but it is an amp that makes one wanna play. I can just get hooked to my guitar hours and hours everyday and enjoy it every time like it is the first.

My girlfriend does not think that this is so funny though. But I already told her that she should ask Peter Diezel for explanations
