WTF? My mind is a little blown. I mean some of you guys know I like to play and get a kick out of getting tones I love out of cheap ass gear. This Bandit is killer. I've been trying all kinds of combinations the last few days. Running from the preamp out of the Bandit into my Peavey tube power amp into a 4x12, Running the Bandit into two 4x12s(GK85s/Century Vintage) and going from the Preamp out of the Bandit into the effects return of my head. All sound killer. Damn thing even cleans up with my volume knob on the guitar. It also has a really nice sounding clean channel and the effects loop is footswitchable.
Here's the rig,

and here are some more clips.

Here's the Bandit guitar tracks only

Bandit vs my tube amp

And Bandit vs tube amp in a mix

I tried to get the Bandit pretty close to my normal amp track. To me it's pretty fucking close. It took very minimal eq'ing to do it. This is the tone I like(for Drop D tuning anyways) and go for most of the time.

Okay, I'm done. I had to express my excitement with this $79 amp.

Sounds good man....is that bandit a 'transtube' amp?
I had an original bandit that sounded like hell.
I played a buddies Peavey that had the transtube technology and it was light years ahead of my old bandit.
Thinking about snagging another old Transtube peavey combo for the house.

Yeah man, it's the Transtube "red stripe" version. Would be a killer home amp. You should be able to find one on CL for $150 no problem. The stock Sheffield 1230 speaker is cool and probably in the "greenback" ballpark, but I love it with something in the V30 ballpark. Really I think the biggest key to making it sound like a tube amp is to keep the gain low. It has so much. I have the switch on "high gain" and run the pre-gain knob at 9 o'clock.

Nice.....thanks man. Yup I remember that day back around 1996...plugged into a Transtube 2x12 peavey combo and it was just KILLING.
 (Of course I never played a tube amp yet)

But it was so much fun to play and sounded great.
I deliver mail to a Pawnshop on my route. They have quite a few transtube amps that I can get for a good deal.
Might have to snag one.

Please stop with the cheap amps & great tone threads. This has given me the biggest headache since lolgreg tracked with that pocket Marshall. I could have saved too much money!

This so fucking great!!!!! I did the Marshall MS2 (with an OD pedal in front) into a 4x12 and was incredible. Props to you for putting these clips up  ! Not to mention the log guitar.

My buddy has one of those. He's one of those guys who's a really great player, but doesn't know much at all about gear at all. Anyway, I saw his cover band a few feels ago and he was playing through a bandit into an Avatar 2x12 with V30's. No FX at all. Guitar, chord, amp. He sounded great. I was really surprised. Makes me rethink my gear obsession.

I actually really like the guitar. It has a Squier pickup(my favorite HO pickup), a First Act bridge with washers to raise it up and a Squier neck. It's an old 2x4 I had laying in the garage.

The Bandit with a V30 loaded 2x12 would be a solid rig IMO and sound as good as anything else. I could easily play a show with that rig and a delay pedal.

....Log Guitar,I love it
We might be witness to the next Mr. Les Paul here.
Throw a couple body wings on it for aesthetics & everyone will want one.

(just don't tell anyone the real tone secret is the 2x4 came from a old ship that had sank in Lake Michigan 200 yrs ago)

You're a really good player and that has something to do with it. You would probably sound good thru the Marshall MG series too. Either way, I love PV gear and the Bandits are legendary. Your clips sound great!

I think that sounds great. What kind of tune is that? Fusion? Just kidding. I really do think it sounds great. I went through so many old Peavey tube combo's back in the day. I think my favorite was a 2x12 Mace or it may have been a Classic. I really don't remember the name. Just that I sold a Peavey tube combo and got a SS peavey combo that I immediately hated.

Thanks, and yes. It's fusion. But I can tell you don't listen to fusion much or you wouldn't even have to ask.    I know I'm going to mess with the amp. I can't leave anything alone. :D I'll either replace the stock speaker(which does sound really good) with a V30 or Century Vintage(and save 10 pounds), Make a new enclosure for it with a sealed speaker compartment and a V30 or make it into a head.

i have a red stripe special 212, cut into a head....awesome amp, also had a bandit cut into a head but the special has more headroom and channel modes
also have a studio pro 112 combo :D

I was just looking up some of the other Transtube series amps and saw the Special 212. Looks nice. I like the Resonance knob instead of the switch too. Got any pics of the head conversions?

I dont have at the moment,it doesnt look so good however the sound is awesome  and yes the knob instead of switch allows greater presicion when equing

Check this out and read the comments.... transtube and hands. Case closed.

Transtube stuff is cool. Had a peavey head with it years ago. Was like $250. Bought it cuz I saw Soilwork play one live! Kinda had my 5150 vibe that I owned...but the 5150 sustained more so I kept that and sold the transtube after about 6 months.

I just posted about this in the best cheap high gain combo thread.

I had one of these and loved it, can get very brutal tones out of it.

I never split the pre into a power amp or anything, just rocked the combo but it is a great little amp.

Those Transtube Bandits are no joke.

+1 They are amazing amps.

I made my Bandit USA Red Stripe into a head years ago (not a fan of combos) and run it through a Mesa 2x12. It easily keeps up with my Mesa Mark IV and Mesa Trem-o-verb.

I actually use the Bandit more than the Mesa's.
