You can put whatever the hell you want against whatever the hell you want if you're going to compare things that aren't nearly identical. They're different. We get it.

I don't see how Assassin's Creed is any newer than Super Mario Galaxy, though. I don't really think either one is exactly wildly new and different, but even so, I'd probably me more likely to argue otherwise. At least you PLAY SMG differently, from what little I have seen.

Galaxy is Mario 64 on the Wii, basically.

Assassin's Creed is a historically based stealth game.

How can you possibly compare them?

You can say you like one over the other, which is personal preference, and perfectly reasonable.

You said you can't compare them because Assassin's Creed is some brand new invention, and SMG is nothing new at all. I fail to see much truth to either one of those.

That Mario game looks pretty cool, but I could care less about it. The Wii is just like every Nintendo system since the 64. Maybe one great game every few months. I can't stand the retarded "controller" either. The most overrated system ever.

Well, it's hard to argue against the lack of good games. The last game I bought and loved was Metroid Prime 3, which came out in late August. There are actually 2 other games coming out this month that have my interest peaked: Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. I like WWII shooters, and I haven't played one in a while. RE:UC is an "on-rails" type game (like House of the Dead) that takes you through all the Resident Evil games - seems pretty interesting to me since I am a big Resident Evil fan.

After these 3 games, though, I think the next game I will be looking forward to is Mario Kart Wii, which comes out early next year.

I'm surprised it took so long for someone to do an arcade light gun style shooter. I thought it'd be all about that sort of stuff.

I know. I thought for sure that we would the Time Crisis games on Wii - seems like a no-brainer

They have a Point Blank for the DS. Those games would go perfect with the Wii. I used to have Point Blank 2 for PS1 and loved it. I was really hoping for a new one.

And OAS brings up a point that really hits a sore spot with me and today's gamers. GRAPHICS DO NOT MAKE THE FUCKING GAME! Just because a game looks better does NOT make it good. I have no idea how that mentality became a part of the gaming community, but it's flat out WRONG. Gameplay and story make a game - graphics are just a helping hand.
Exactly, hence why even to this day, uber amounts of people still think a ton of games on SNES are the best to date. For example, tons think Chrono Trigger is the best RPG in existence, alongside FF7. Do these games have fucking amazing graphics? Hell no, but they are SO amazing and fun, with a TON of replay value (I currently have beaten FF7 over 15 times... so far), Chrono Trigger over 10). A ton of games today you play once, MAYBE 2x, and you're done until like 3 years down the road (if you still own the game) maybe you'll feel like playing it again because you forgot what it was all about. Games today are just about graphics and throwing out as many as possible. Remember back when games like FF7 and others used to be advertisd and talked about largely? Nowadays one game now and then will be advertised on TV with a minute 1/2 commercial. There is no glory days anymore (if that makes sense) to games, they just keep throwing more out as fast as they can rather than really taking their time on a game and making it truely amazing in gameplay. That's the problem with next-gen consoles...

And that's exactly why I moved to handhelds. I'm finding better games on the PSP and DS than any of the consoles so far. Every good game on the console is for the PC, so it's not like I'm at a loss, either. Then again, I'm an RPG guy. Both the handhelds have TONS of RPGs, but there are almost none on the next-gens.

Handhelds do have insanely amazing games, it's very strange. Best example is the Metroid's and Castlevania's, both hold the best gameplay style. Metroid with it's classic side-scrolling pwnage. I think Super Metroid is the best ever, so maybe that's why I love the handheld versions too. Castlevania kept suit with it's SotN style, which I might add is the best action-RPG ever!! If they made another Castlevania for the next-gens, and made it side-scrolling with like 4000 different swords, armors, accessories, and new stuff to add, plus like 7500 different monsters, it would be the most epic game ever! They also need to remake FF7 on PS3, they would make more money than they could ever use if they did...

360 has a kickass RPG called Eternal Sonata. It's basically Star Ocean meets Grandia, both in my top 5 list of RPG series' of all time. Trust me, it's one RPG you don't want to pass up. There is also Enchanted Arms on 360, though I don't know much about it, it looks like a pretty good game, then again I somehow enjoy games most people hate, like the King's Field series... wish they would make a 360 King's Field... :(

I refuse to buy a 360 so me playing that game is probably never going to happen. I'm anti-Microsoft after all. I know the 360 has a few good RPGs, though (see Mistwalker). BTW, Eternal Sonata is for the 360 and PS3. Also, they remade SotN on the PSP. It's a hidden game in the latest Castlevania remake. FF7 got Crisis Core on the PSP, and there will most likely be a sequel to Crisis Core. As far as an FF7 remake goes, I don't think it will happen, and honestly, I don't want it to happen. If it happens, I know they'll fuck it up with shitty voice actors ala FFX and FFXII. FYI, there are already plot holes and differences with all the latest FF7 remakes. People can't seem to leave well-enough alone.

Well if you want to argue differences in the experience, then I'd gladly take the Wii, because you get to point to aim, instead of using a retarded controller. That's as close as you are going to get to using a mouse to aim, and that's why shooters will always suck for consoles compared to PCs.

A difference in the graphics is about the last thing I'd consider to affect the experience of the game. There are lots of PC games I play with the graphics all the way down. I don't care at all. It doesn't make them any less fun, and turning the graphics up wouldn't make the crappy ones any more tolerable. Exact same thing going from the Wii to the 360/PS3.

It's not really your fault, but the fact that people now consider the graphics to be the make or break point for the actual experience of playing one game compared to another shines a light on a whole other load of BS. Everyone is just repackaging the same stuff over and over. It's like how everyone thinks a band like Killswitch Engage is the best, amongst an endless sea of imitators, largely because their production is so highly regarded.

Actually no, there are adapters you can get that you plug into your consoles USB port, and register the controller in first, then plug in your keyboard and mouse and it works just like a PC KB/Mouse setup. It doesn't have EXACTLY as good precision and smoothness, but it's pretty damn close, and is 5x more precise than a controller.

That's intramasting. I know you've been able to use a USB mouse and/or keyboard for a while with different consoles, but I just assumed that they wouldn't automatically take over the exact functions of a controller that they handle on a computer.

But then you have a whole new problem. People sit in front of their computers. People sit at a distance from their TVs. Unless you have a wireless mouse and keyboard, it's probably not going to reach. And even if it does, what are you going to put it on? A desk, just sitting at a distance from your TV for some weird reason? Haha the whole scenario just seems so awkward. There's a good reason consoles use controllers, but it's certainly a trade off, and unfortunately, it's undoubtedly going to stay that way.

Here's the best adapter for using KB/Mouse with the 360...

True reach could be a problem, but I'm sure some people who have their 360 linked to their PC have them sitting right next to each other, so unplugging from the PC and into the adapter would fix that. Of course, most people most likely would rather play on their big screen TVs (unless they have an expensive monitor). I know you can get extensions, could always do that. If you're willing, there's a way. I personally would not want to use a wireless through it though, I don't think that would wield good results like a wired one.
