If I was sound guy I’d leave the baffle lurking in the corner of the stage, maybe even walk over and move it a few times as you crazy fucks are getting set up just to instill fear it’s coming out
 
Not really. But one club in particular had the typical can you turn down. After about the 5th time, I was like I can't hear shit, soundman said it was perfect.

Frankly, IMO any soundman worth his salt should be able to handle a mix whether it's a cranked 4x12 or not. I know the truly good ones I've worked with have no issue with it. Yes, you have to work with them, they might tell you to maybe angle away a bit or to manage your volumer but most of those guys also realize you've gotta be able to hear your amp as the player as well.

I think the problem now is alot of the newer soundman would rather you be using in ears and taking a line out from your amp or modeler etc... basically the easy way. I know for most of the years I played live, I had it pretty good as most of the soundman let you crank it pretty good as long as you worked with them.
 
All jokes aside, it also depends on the soundman and the PA too. If I am playing The Pagent in STL, I know my shit is going to sound killer no matter what. If I am playing Ronnies Natty Light Shack, and his soundguy is using 2 busted ass Crate mains and a 150w Behringer powered mixer and tries to say something, he can fuck off. Consequences dictate course of action I suppose.

The drummers in my bands were both heavy pounders.
When a drummer sets that volume as a base for your mix, you have to go to a certain level to hear what your playing. Sound 101.
Unless your getting a full monitor mix from a seasoned pro, forget it. Gotta do, what you gotta do.

we just started down the Casino path. first one that we're potentially working with is all IEM, electric drums, and guitars are direct lol
