Been watching these lately and i've seen/heard a lot of clips, but i still cannot decide: TO X OR NOT TO X?
I recon the regular would be more versatile, but can it bring teh br00tals too? On the other hand: Does the X have usable cleans?
I have no chance to try them before buying unfortunately, so every comment is very welcome. I've seen some guys here switching back to the regular after owning the X. So what do you say?

I bought the non-X because it is a little more versatile. It can do brutal stuff all day. The X has great cleans as well. The only difference is the X gets rid of the crunch and lead amps and adds a couple of higher gain ones. If you play a lot of heavier stuff go on and get the X. You are not going to miss anything from the non-X. Plus with a little messing around with the settings and software you'll be able to get a lot of the same sounds with the X. Either way it's a great little amp.

Thanx man, i'm actually leaning towards the regular version. I don't really need the crunch amps, but I gotta have the lead amps and good cleans. Obviously the cleans are not a problem on each of them, so if the regular version can do classic Testament/Megadeth kinda gain i would go the versatility route.

You'll have no problem getting those sounds easily.

I bought both. Sent back the original because I loved the brown2 channel on the X. Unfortunately I found that was the only channel I liked and sold it. I would go with the original model. They have an update for it now.

I dig the brown and brown II channels on the X. They sound better than any of the similar models on the original. The clean is pretty good. The only thing that's missing is a good light crunch but you can get way with the brown at low gain for that. I don't really like any of the higher gain models on the X but I'm not really into the brutals.

the brown channel on the x is divine ! The x has great cleans as well. I can roll back the volume knob and it gets good mid gain stuff too...just a great little amp

I've only played the X version. The clean is definitely usable. Brown I and II are the best gain channels on the X imo, and II is the highlight - it's killer. The other gain channels on the X are ok, but even for really heavy stuff I prefer Brown II. Honestly, without that channel I'd have sold it.

I'm waiting for the Blackstar ID Core, similar to the THR, at 20 or 40 watts.

I had the X and traded it for the regular version. The Brown channels were awesome and the other gain channels unusable to me. Much happier with the regular tan version.

If that thing sounds half as good as the THX, they should do well considering the price point.

Any idea on what has been updated? Hopefully the Brown channels are now more similar to the X...

I believe they updated the clean channel and the ability to change cabs in the software.
