Everyone likes pics right?

Here's my 1990 Yamaha Weddington Classic. I just finished putting in a set of new pickups. Bridge is a Wolfetone Marshallhead II, neck is a Dr. Vintage. This guitar has been out of commission for a few years now, for the sole reason that Yamaha didn't route the space for the pickups ears big enough. The factory pickups were Dimarzios, and they fit just fine, but nothing else would fit without being literally forced in, and then of course the pickups wouldn't adjust freely. I initially replaced the Dimarzios with a set of Mighty Mite Motherbuckers. I had to take a Dremel sanding drum to the cavity to make them fit. When I got the set of Wolfetones, I decided to fix the problem once and for all and route the cavities properly. Not sure why, but it took my a few years to actually get around to doing it. I just got myself a Dewalt cordless compact router, so I figured it was time for surgery.

Here's the freshly routed cavities. Check out the bottom of the bridge pickup cavity. That is maple. The maple cap on this guitar is insanely thick, so the pickup cavity doesn't even reach the mahogany.

And here it is with the Wolfetones installed.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Marshallhead II yet. When I finished re-assembling the guitar, and rewiring it (I replaced all the electronics except the jack), I plugged it in and played it for a few minutes, but I think I was having a "bad ear day". It just sounded very gritty to me, but I plugged in my number 1 SG, and even that sounded gritty to me, so yeah, bad ear day.

Here's a pic of my rack which hold all my regularly played guitars. L to R - Yamaha Weddington Classic, Xaviere XV-500, Yamaha AES420, Washburn Idol WI65, Gibson SG-X, Gibson SG-1, Gibson SG-1 (my number 1). Yes the rack is shitty. It's a prototype. I made it out of scrap wood with the intention of making a proper one out of nice hardwood (probably walnut) once I had finalized the design.

That's a cool looking guitar, but the rack really amazes me. It's amazing how some people have a knack for building stuff through carpetry or mechanical and electrical engineering. Makes me realise how poor my life skills are.
