Easy to suggest if your team has money.

The teams with the highest payrolls are regularly in the playoffs. The highest payroll doesn't always win of course, but as you said it sure helps. It is why baseball is the worst of the 4 major sports IMO. It is great when a team like Florida or Tampa Bay make it to a WS with a bunch of great young players they drafted and brought up through their system. But that happens once every great while then within a few years all of those guys end up on the rich teams rosters.dfrattaroli":31ilpqmk said:Shawn Lutz":31ilpqmk said:if you can buy a world series then why doesnt the team with the highest payroll win every year?
Sure improves your chances though.
How many times does the team with the lowest payroll win?

The Rays were in the World Series last year. The Twins are good every year. The Florida Marlins have 2 Championships.
And the Yanks did lose 2 outta 3 to the Washington Nationals this year.![]()

Florida's first championship is not the example you want to use, they did buy it and then tore that team apart by unloading 2/3s of the payrole.![]()

It's a good formula to follow. Any of these teams can drop a lot of cash into 1 season and roll the dice then tear it down. Even the Pirates would draw fans if they put a winning team on the field. They do have a sweet park.

That's a terrible formula to follow. That team was beyond awful for so long after that WS win and it took them forever to recover.

You know the Yankees just won the World Series when MLB sucks, a salary cap is overdue, 200 million dollar payrolls, and that the Royals don't stand a chance.
Funny how nobody cared when the Rays got to the World Series. And when the Rays continue to ship off their players blame their fans for not supporting their team this year. They come off a World Series appearance and their building is half empty all year long. I watched EVERY Rays/Yanks game this year, the Rays fans didn't show up.

I would go to Rays games if I lived close. But they haven't been shipping off their players. They have a lot of great young players and they are all sticking around. Look out for them next year. If their pitching staff can get it together they could be back in the WS.danyeo":1ajdjvkv said:GnR102385":1ajdjvkv said:The "stock up for one year" plan is a sure sign that MLB sucks.

He was our golden prize...all we had that was good and pure in this world...the talent...and at the end of the season even he couldn't win a game.danyeo":3t65twpd said:Randy Van Sykes":3t65twpd said:Yeah it's over...Yeah the Yankees won...do we have to keep talkin about it?!![]()

Maybe the Yanks will throw 25 million at Halliday?![]()
A beer in Yankee stadium can run you 11 bucks so why not make it 30 million?
They seem like a passionate bunch but also very crazy.danyeo":1ufhzz58 said:zao":1ufhzz58 said:Damn great season. I really enjoyed it and I'm happy I got to see this team 4 times this year. The new stadium was awsome and I'm happy the won the world series in it's first season. I thought Philly was a good team and they had me scared a few times, I went to game 3 and I had to take alot of shit from the Philly fans for wearing a Yankee jersey but it was worth it.
I have been going to games every year, except this year since i was busy with my Daughter. Game 3 would have been sweet to go to but i can imagine how the Phillies fans would have been, if they're anything like Eagles fans. A real nasty bunch they are![]()
