The teams with the highest payrolls are regularly in the playoffs. The highest payroll doesn't always win of course, but as you said it sure helps. It is why baseball is the worst of the 4 major sports IMO. It is great when a team like Florida or Tampa Bay make it to a WS with a bunch of great young players they drafted and brought up through their system. But that happens once every great while then within a few years all of those guys end up on the rich teams rosters.

You need the right guys, the redsox found the right guys along with the big payrole and won twice in 4 years. The Mets are an example of money does NOT buy the championship

I would go to Rays games if I lived close. But they haven't been shipping off their players. They have a lot of great young players and they are all sticking around. Look out for them next year. If their pitching staff can get it together they could be back in the WS.

He was our golden prize...all we had that was good and pure in this world...the talent...and at the end of the season even he couldn't win a game.

Damn great season. I really enjoyed it and I'm happy I got to see this team 4 times this year. The new stadium was awsome and I'm happy the won the world series in it's first season. I thought Philly was a good team and they had me scared a few times, I went to game 3 and I had to take alot of shit from the Philly fans for wearing a Yankee jersey but it was worth it.

I have been going to games every year, except this year since i was busy with my Daughter. Game 3 would have been sweet to go to but i can imagine how the Phillies fans would have been, if they're anything like Eagles fans. A real nasty bunch they are

They seem like a passionate bunch but also very crazy.
I took my 11 yr old son and my brother and his friend and all of us are yankee fans, every second somebody was yelling at us and calling us names, one guy threw a hot dog at my brothers friend and another time while i was walking around i dodged a cardboard drink holder that went past my head, overall it was worth it and my son loved it.
im used to people talking shit to me about teams, i work in D.C. and wear a ny giants hat to work everyday and i hear it from the skins fans all the time, they arent as nasty as the philly fans though.
