If you don't like the lack of a salary cap then stop watching baseball, simple as that.

Easy to suggest if your team has money.

if you can buy a world series then why doesnt the team with the highest payroll win every year?

Sure improves your chances though.

How many times does the team with the lowest payroll win?

Good for the Yankees and their fans.

I'm thinking my Pirates have a shot next year...

... at trading away all of their talent to good teams and going under .500 yet again.

The teams with the highest payrolls are regularly in the playoffs. The highest payroll doesn't always win of course, but as you said it sure helps. It is why baseball is the worst of the 4 major sports IMO. It is great when a team like Florida or Tampa Bay make it to a WS with a bunch of great young players they drafted and brought up through their system. But that happens once every great while then within a few years all of those guys end up on the rich teams rosters.

The Rays were in the World Series last year. The Twins are good every year. The Florida Marlins have 2 Championships.

And the Yanks did lose 2 outta 3 to the Washington Nationals this year. :D

Florida's first championship is not the example you want to use, they did buy it and then tore that team apart by unloading 2/3s of the payrole.

It's a good formula to follow. Any of these teams can drop a lot of cash into 1 season and roll the dice then tear it down. Even the Pirates would draw fans if they put a winning team on the field. They do have a sweet park.

danyeo, be honest, if you didn't live in NY/NJ, you would hate the Yankees and be bitching about the lack of a salary cap.

That's a terrible formula to follow. That team was beyond awful for so long after that WS win and it took them forever to recover.

You need the right guys, the redsox found the right guys along with the big payrole and won twice in 4 years. The Mets are an example of money does NOT buy the championship

Went to the new St Louis Stadium, very nice park.

It's won them 2 rings. What has your boy Billy won? It's not a great formula to build a solid team year in/year out but it's a quick way that any team can stock up for 1 season and take a shot.

The "stock up for one year" plan is a sure sign that MLB sucks.

You know the Yankees just won the World Series when MLB sucks, a salary cap is overdue, 200 million dollar payrolls, and that the Royals don't stand a chance.

Funny how nobody cared when the Rays got to the World Series. And when the Rays continue to ship off their players blame their fans for not supporting their team this year. They come off a World Series appearance and their building is half empty all year long. I watched EVERY Rays/Yanks game this year, the Rays fans didn't show up.

Nursing home folks usually can't go to games very frequently.

Yeah it's over...Yeah the Yankees won...do we have to keep talkin about it?!

Just remember, 1/4 way through the season Toronto was in first place...we were kicking your ass...yeah. :D

Maybe the Yanks will throw 25 million at Halliday?  A beer in Yankee stadium can run you 11 bucks so why not make it 30 million?

I would go to Rays games if I lived close. But they haven't been shipping off their players. They have a lot of great young players and they are all sticking around. Look out for them next year. If their pitching staff can get it together they could be back in the WS.

He was our golden prize...all we had that was good and pure in this world...the talent...and at the end of the season even he couldn't win a game. :bash:

Damn great season. I really enjoyed it and I'm happy I got to see this team 4 times this year. The new stadium was awsome and I'm happy the won the world series in it's first season. I thought Philly was a good team and they had me scared a few times, I went to game 3 and I had to take alot of shit from the Philly fans for wearing a Yankee jersey but it was worth it.

I have been going to games every year, except this year since i was busy with my Daughter. Game 3 would have been sweet to go to but i can imagine how the Phillies fans would have been, if they're anything like Eagles fans. A real nasty bunch they are
They seem like a passionate bunch but also very crazy.
I took my 11 yr old son and my brother and his friend and all of us are yankee fans, every second somebody was yelling at us and calling us names, one guy threw a hot dog at my brothers friend and another time while i was walking around i dodged a cardboard drink holder that went past my head, overall it was worth it and my son loved it.
im used to people talking shit to me about teams, i work in D.C. and wear a ny giants hat to work everyday and i hear it from the skins fans all the time, they arent as nasty as the philly fans though.

Scott Kazmir? The Rays simply won't be able to afford their players when they want to get paid.
