"Some Yngwie gear "secrets" from the archives.
Today I found some photos I had of Yngwie's amp settings and "Room of Doom" from around 1999-2002 time period.
Note - some may be surprised to see the BASS setting on 3.
But remember, this was before the YJM308 pedal when he was still using the original grey DOD250 pedals (that have more low end).
Also if you compare the tones from Magnum Opus, 7th Sign, Inspiration and that time period, his sound was not as Bassy and "woolly" on the low end as today.
It was a tighter low end back then.
Not to mention those old vintage amps have more low end and less treble than newer later models like JCM900 or 2000 series.
So the bass signal was not overpowering and muddy in the amp chain, but EQ boost ranging from 56 to 180 hz was added in the studio at the console or on the focusrite EQ unit to fill out the low end.
These are the Studio Amp Settings ....
I have no idea about what the LIVE settings may have been.
P.S. These are not really a "secret".
Yngwie himself has mentioned these general settings for his amps in the past and I believe we originally showed these pictures back in the old DragonFire Fan Club Newsletter many years ago.
Enjoy and maybe something here will help you in your quest for tone."

I seem to recall early in Yngwie career that he was saying that he kept the bass on 0 on his amps at the time. I always thought that was odd

Warren Di Martini kept his bass near zero too, I think some amps have capacitors that drift way off value over the years and just make too much low end.

That's not a pic of Yngwie's amp, the volumes aren't on eleven. ;)

Turning down the bass really low (or even off) is a common setting with the early Marshall plexis.

They're so thick-toned that any more bass is too much.

I have my bass set to "0" on my modded JTM45RI

Both volumes on "0" I would think are not what he used. What is the silver domed mic next to the Shure SM57? Found the statement that his bottom end on Magnum Opus, etc. odd since I thought throughout most of it, it was pretty heavy esp in comparison with his 80's- Fire and Ice material.

Thank you for sharing that.

Having seen Yngwie live more than a few times his tone shook loose ever filling I had and the treble split my head in half. His live tone sometimes can sound like a laser beam of pure treble.

When I crank my 800, or older JMPs that I've had the low end needs to be turned down. What sounds good at lower volumes needs adjusting with higher volume, especially with vintage Marshalls. Becomes woofy if the bass is too high when turned up. Lower bass settings at high volumes = tighter.

Looks like a shitty home studio in the corner of his basement...... love it. Goes to show there is no substitute for LOUD and someone with mammoth hands who can shred. Looks like the Fredman mic technique or something similar in use there to cut down on the fizz as another calf is sacrificed to the demon gods as Yngwie rips the faces off 1000 unborn children with one blazing ascending run!!!!!!!

Was it mentioned what speakers were in both of those cabinets? What ohm he runs them at or type of back panel in each?

I always read where he liked the early/mid 80s T75s best. The first versions.

I think I remember hearing where that is not all he has used over the years but more recent material (non- mid 80's era or after) I have heard that too. Wonder if he mixes with different speakers when recording.
