Yngwie's new Seymour Duncan sig pickups!

I could go on but I'm disgusted with Seymour Duncan's arrogance. I'll leave it at that.

Arrogance? Larry DiMarzio is the guy that patented:

1. Double Cream pickups
2. The name "PAF"
3. The use of different gauge wire on each coil
4. The practice of putting space between the coils and the bar magnet in a humbucker.

Plus in regards to your comment about quality control, the only pickup i've ever had a problem with was a DiMarzio Tone Zone that had the screw hole on the mounting ear drilled too large for the provided, or any other for that matter, pickup mounting screw. You could not mount the pickup as a result, had to send it back.

my ears never failed to hate dimarzios...i think they are eq'ued to cut onstage but are always harsh to me... but i have heard recent recordings of some of the singles that sounded nice so i'll give them that.

but i'll never purposefully buy them again.

read on the kinman site about how ol lar tried to bury chris kinman. lame.

if i need another hot silent sc again i'll go with kinman or maybe bill and becky lawrence. the lawrence 280L is cool for cutting crunch and gain although more ceramic sounding and stiffer than the alnico quack and hollow bubbling goodness.

I couldn't stand the noise from the FL and i wasn't about to spend $300 on a silent switching system. IMHO, the Virtual Vintage sounds great and very much like a true single coil, although I'm not as picky about singles as others.

I'm using a Virtual Vintage Blues neck single coil in my Suhr S4. It actually replaced the Suhr FL that was in there. I couldn't stand the noise from the FL and i wasn't about to spend $300 on a silent switching system. IMHO, the Virtual Vintage sounds great and very much like a true single coil, although I'm not as picky about singles as others.

+1 on the VV pups.

The VirtuAL 2.1 and '54 have been wonderful for me.

They're also, just about the quietest pups I've ever encountered.

I doubt the new Seymour Duncan YJM's will live up to Dimarzio HS3/YJM's. Seymour Duncan is a greater commercial pickup manufacturer, but they don't make better pickups than Dimarzio.

Seymour Duncan has more professional artists on their roster that any other pickup company. I don’t think they got there by selling pickups with “nothing special to offer.” There have been so many legendary tones from albums that are just classics that have come from Duncan pickups. The Duncan JB is the highest selling pickup of the past twenty years. Duncan continues to push the boundaries with products like the P-Rails.

Both DiMarzio and Seymour Duncan make great pickups. There are also some smaller shops making great pickups.

If you don’t like Seymour Duncan pickups, that’s fine. However, to make such sophomoric statements about a company shows that you spend more time jacking your jaw on the internet than actually playing your instrument.

LOL! That statement itself is arrogant. I know what my ears hear, and I've installed almost every Seymour Duncan humbucker and single-size humbucker. You don't have to be Larry Carlton to know what pickups sound better than others. I don't care *what* you do or *how* you do it because what matters is the end result, and in the end, Dimarzio makes superior pickups in my opinion.

Dimarzio has a pretty large roster of big-time players too, and comparable for a much smaller company. Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Deep Purple, Guns N Roses, Journey, Boston, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, etc........... Sorry dude, but you don't seem to know "dick" yourself.

As for the Seymour vs. Dimarzio thing, I've worked in guitar shops since 1987. I have installed and tried out hundreds of Duncans and hundreds of Dimarzios. I think a great player can get great tones out of pickups by either company, but MOST of the go to tone guys for me were using Duncans. I don't own a single guitar with a Dimarzio in it.
