I'm pretty excited about these latest offerings, especially the 60s spec one. I'm glad Gibson is listening to the players again and good to see the price even came down a few hundred dollars on these. :) Just curious if anyone has tried one out yet?

Here is a vid I came across. There are a few out there covering the basics:

I'm pretty pleased with the direction they're going as well. My only gripe is the V and Explorer offerings. I'd really like to see Classic White back on the menu! A Classic White Explorer would be on my hit list, ASAP. Ebony board would really have me scrambling. Under the couch cushions.

LOL!!! We are all desperate bastards when it comes to gear.

Who knows, maybe they will tackle the Explorers next. Seems like the newest leadership really wants to give players what they are begging for.

They seem pretty cool. My wish list would be a V with the string thru tail piece, they look so much cooler

I Have 5 Les Paul's & The only LP i'd really be interested in, if Gibson did a Single Hum/Single Vol LP Standard.

Overall I like that direction they are going here. However, the increased weight is probably a no go for me. I am already considering selling one of my LPs as I just can't shoulder my 9.8lb custom or 10.1lb standard LE for a whole weekend any longer. Getting older sucks.

I also hope that they bring out a more modern Les Paul with the tuning issues on the G and D strings addressed as well as the lack of wood around their truss rod.

They need to only use the snap off pickguards that require no screwing of holes into the guitar. You can then decide to keep it on or remove it, with no fucking screw hole exposed on the top of the guitar :gethim:

Yes!!! I have never understood that. Blackba, definitely get what you are saying with the weight. I don't gig anymore so thankfully I don't have to deal with that. LOL!

I really want to sit down and try the new Les Paul models.

I tried one new standard and enjoyed the hell out of it. I don't remember if it was the '60's spec though.

I also like the new direction. I hope things keep going this way and Gibson can earn their place back in the world of guitars. My Gibsons are cheaper models, but I love them. I have to refret one of mine already! It has seen a lot of action.

Not happy that they changed the Gold paint formula so it won’t check and turn green from sweat. Was looking forward to a new gold top.

I didn't know that. Bummer.

Yeah I thought it was even cool how they have players like Tracii Guns, etc. doing vids advertising and talking about their experiences with becoming Gibson players, etc.

I like that too. I hope one day that the name 'Gibson' means what it did twenty years ago. They have proove it again, but I feel that they are on the right track.

Yep, totally agree. They will just need to stay the course and win back some old fans. I've always been a Gibson guy, but have to admit I was getting more and more irritated. The worst point for me was when that "Tiger" guitar or whatever it is called came out. The one that looked like something a millionaire a-hole would own and never play. Ugly as sin. LOL.

My favorite parts of this latest LP change is lower price, no weight relief, and taking off the "bells and whistles" that nobody wanted anyway. With that said, I do think they can keep doing modern versions of their guitars and should keep pushing into the future. Bottom line, keep pushing forward but don't forget your roots.

I picked out 3 different ones online and within one day, they all sold.
Selling like crazy.
I ended up with a 50's(love bigger necks) Gold Top. Massive tone, fit, finish and tone.

I had a "Unburst" 60's picked out. Had a decent top. That sold within a day.
Then was looking at two different Burbon Burst. GONZO.
