You guys ever listen to this band "Pretty Maids"?

I was just randomly searching for different music (I am stuck in the 80's) and found myself gravitating more towards the melodic hooks of the power metal or scandinavian based metal bands these days. I had never heard of these guys. Love how tight the rythm section is and the songs are pretty catchy. These guys look to have been around quite some time but are still turning out solid product and live can bring it (obviously this show is prob edited and fixed in studio but it is still pretty kick ass). There is just something so triumphant about power metal even if they do sing about wizards and pincesses and shit that makes Yngwie's lyrics sound ridiculous.

Oh definitely, I thought they were fairly well known (relatively speaking) actually. Loved Future World back in the day when they really got their sound, but the earlier Red, Hot and Heavy is a total more straight forward rocking classic. I kind of lost track of them in the 90's, but been digging their more recent stuff.

What I like is that they don't tend to go too "power metal" where you lose the balls completely, still have some good riffage to go with the melodic side.

They bring it live - they played Progpower in Atlanta 2-3 yrs ago. No overdubs needed
Cool dudes and funny SOB's.. their guitarist & tech had me almost pissing myself...

Dude this is one my favourite heavy metal songs of all time from 1987:

I finally got to see them live on the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise a few years ago, really brought back some teenage memories. After Future World, they just kind of faded away (at least here), their 90's output wasn't that good I thought. They always had this weird sound that one moment it was super heavy and intense, and other times really soft metal in that Europe-like vein.

I was really blown away by their 2010 album Pandemonium, it just kills.

The follow-up Motherland wasn't as good, but still some decent tunes.

Love the band, mostly the heavy tunes though, the sappier ones are too sappy for me
