You guys see this Bugera Infinium 1960 thread?

the amp has piqued my interest for a while, a super cheap modded plexi with various options and a PPIMV that works...the soundcloud clips the guy posted sound particularly nice as well

if i run across one used i'll probably bite and mod how it looks heh..380 ish euros new..crazy money, i'm just really enjoying my jet city for now

There is one on eBay now, b-stock. £299!

The metro guy kept saying how the clips where loud, don't think this is a bedroom/home friendly amp if you are looking for any kinda high/moderate gain...

Also, you don't get that "infinium" thing with a £3000 Soldano, can't help but think its a complicated feature on a cheap amp.

Cool non the less!

yeah i saw that, as i live in luxembourg i can get one for 379 euros shipped from thomann (VAT is a bit less over here)

maybe they'll crop up used at some stage, given they're looouuudd as hell, maybe pulling two tubes can be an option

150watts..4 el34s ouch

I think even pulling two tubes it was said that these amps are loud as hell... almost worse than a JCM800 combo which is frigging loud. (at least the level at which it sounds good to me) If they went to a combo for this i'd be all over it! Or JMP rip off even with a regular master volume and jose type mods lol... why not? Bugera does it all!

Sounds great! The funny thing is, this could've been posted as "modded by (insert mod-squad builder of choice) and no one would have known the difference. :D Never heard that particular model in person, but I've heard other bugeras being molested and they sounded pretty bad. The clip could've been recorded well and "touched up"?

Possibly, but to be honest, I think it is just a good example of a tried and true circuit being implemented well by Bugera. It isn't rocket science, They just added a master volume and one wire mod + an effects loop to make this thing very appealing. I also agree with you, this easily could have been one of those "insert mod builder" of choice threads because it sounded that good!

is the owner of the amp on rig-talk per chance?

there's a rig-talk jam contribution on his soundcloud so hopefully he can chime in with some opinions =)

This is true. Anyone can slap that circuit together with decent components and it will probably sound good. I think it's a good entry-level or backup brand, but I wouldn't trust one as my go-to amp. Not a bad sound to have on reserve though.

A thread about me! Well , my amp haha.
I bought this amp as an experiment, I couldn't really find any decent clips showing it off and most clips on YT seems to be by kids who either can't really play or don't have the gear to record it properly. A gamble for sure, considering Bugeras reputation, but I was told they had done some improvement with the Infinium series, so I took the chance. Also a good three year warranty helps.

And I have to say it took me by surprise, sounded much better than I expected!
But yes it's loud, and the PPIMV can't really take it down to reasonable bedroom levels. Sounds best with the MV bypassed, but the MV is quite usable still. 150 watt is marketing BS from Bugera, it's a normal 100. :)

I'm going to try it slaved into a Matrix power amp as well, just waiting for a huge dummy load resistor I ordered.

The clips are recorded with a Sennheiser e906. The recording interface is a cheap Line 6 UX1. The UX1 comes with POD farm, and I'm using delay and reverb from it with amp and cab simulation bypassed, quite handy.
No EQ, compression or anything done after recording, what you hear is exactly what's recorded.

I don't think I'd trust gigging it yet, while the PCB is thick and solid , power tube sockets are chassi mounted, there a bunch of small connctors inside which I'd imagine could come loose easily, we'll see.
I plan to eventually hardwiring those, looks like a fairly simple task for most of them.
I haven't got around to mess around with tubes yet, but the Infinium auto-biasing stuff seems cool.
I'm considering upgrading it with proper vintage spec choke and OT as well.
That and harwiring the internal connections would possibly make it a solid amp I can use for years to come! :)

cool =0 i thought you might be on here with the rig-talk jam on your soundcloud

seems like an interesting feature filled amp, the build quality might be a bit of a concern but the tone speaks for itself , thanks for the clips , feel free to post more =)

Yeah that Jamies Crying sounded pretty good to me.
But I am sure someone will come in and rip it apart since it was a *GASP* ..."Bugera" .....
Again I thought your clips sounded good.

Hey man, Blix is a great player. He's definitely one of those guys who has that VH feel and touch. This is the third amp that I've heard him cover VH on and they all were very close.

Yeah, i am starting to think that the player has a lot to do with it as well! Love the DOD 250 Yngwie bit clip as well. You are a fine player indeed. Still interested in the amp though. Don't really need anotehr plexi style head but it is def. tempting!

Thank you guys!

The last few days I've used it with two power tubes removed, and the volume becomes much more manageable. Still loud, but at least it's not painful to be in the same room anymore... :)
The fx loop is great too, sounds incredibly sweet with a strat and a Neunaber Wet reverb in the loop.

What type of master volume is in that thing? PPIMV or some type of power soak ?

It's a PPIMV of some sorts. Doesn't take the volume down to bedroom friendly. The amp sounds best with it bypassed, but it's still quite nice to have.

the real question is: will it melt your face off and burn your house down like earlier bugeras?

It does reduce the volume though so you could (if you wanted) gig with it? How's the fx loop, do you think you could boost with an eq in the loop?
