Man, I been doing that lately - I used to think tone knobs were for whimps, now I guess I think I'm a whimp, cause I like what I'm hearing

been using both of them for years....its a wonderful feature when playing clean mostly for me, but depends on what sound i'm going after..jeff beck is the master at it. i like the 4th position setting, roll the tone to about 5-6 and hit a nice overdrive pedal. but i'm always dabblin with it in various situations. only on strats though

I cant live without a tone knob on my guitars, it probably gets used as much as the volume knob!!

I use it more on strat-types than my Les Paul, also more with clean tones.

On my shred/metal guitars, I disconnect them. On anything else, I keep them, but use them sparingly.

All the time.
Gotta have a tone pot.

I've sold guitars that didn't have one drilled.

Never. Could take it off and I wouldn't notice. I find myself checking to make sure they are up all the way while playing. just in case I hit it by mistake.

I let the pickups and the amps do all the talking.

On the tele I do...it's a necessary evil. Other guitars, rarely ever.

On my Strat yes, one click down from the neck and messing with the tone and volume knobs gives you a ton of options.

On my Les Paul not so much.

For the most part with the tone knobs I set them and forget them, but I do adjust them from time to time. I have one guitar without a tone knob and I wish it had one, as I find it easier to teak the tone knob on the guitar than the amp.

Now THAT's what I'm talking about.

+1, you have too, especially on the bridge pickup

I turn it up all the way and then back about 1 or 2 notches . But so, not really, I just dont use it completely open, it's on like 8.
