My choices are NOT gonna be the norm here.
I'm being specific to GUITAR tones.
Injected - Burn it Black album, particlarly "When she Comes".
The whole album is just a cranked Bogner, and just sounds glorious.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge.
That guitar sound, and every single string squeak, is just awesome. Chorus at the end is magic too.
Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song
You can tell it's low gain pickups into vintage amps. The guitars don't sound huge in a massive way, but huge in a natural way. The whole album sounds amazing.
Third Eye Blind - any guitar tone from the first album is just amazing.
Rich, clean, interesting. If you get past the ridiculousness and popularity of Semi Charmed Life, and past Stephen Jenkins awful live performances, that album is just spectacular. [/i
Tom Petty - Mary Janes Last Dance
Perhaps my favorite example of a recorded Tele, EVER.
