You know what really grinds my gears?

That's what I was thinking bro'.

Shit's not waterproof so sweat & moisture will theoretically lead to leaching / smudging, which TBH wouldn't really be a problem for the fretboard or frets, but one might have to wipe one's hands after playing or wear only back clothes.

I haven't had the issue, then again I'm not doing live shows under stage lights or in the afternoon sun either.

some people use fretboard wax, and I suppose you could do a light coat of matte or satin clearcoat?

Haven't had any issues or need to reapply; I suspect under heavy use and sweat it may need a touchup.
That's awesome, I think I'll give it a go. Got a couple of x series Jacksons that would look way nicer with a darker board

Comparison inked vs original:

End result. No issues with the ink coming off so far:

WRX?
Do you happen to know if these come with FR1000 or Special?
You have a red one too, right? Same thing just maple fingerboard?

Yes, WRX; FR Special, and Jackson high output pickups. The Rhoads X series have FR Special too but come with Duncan Blackout set...which they should do for the Warriors IMO.

Yes, I also have the Ferrari red warrior X with maple board.

I like the X series for the neck thru and painted neck; they need a Warrior, in Snow White, richlite board, and Duncan blackouts.

I don't go crazy with my FR; so far the Specials are holding up well on all my X series (3 rhoads, 2 warriors). The insert blocks are what wear out the fastest, and I'll just get steel or titanium and see.

when guitar makers make black, especially satin black, guitars, black hardware, black pickups, and then have a light brown / reddish brown fretboard.

why?

who looks at that, and says: "YES!" It could be former members of Ibanez bass color design team who seem to love various shades of shit brown.

Using India Ink, I darkened my fretboard. In the pic you can see what it looked like from the factory vs after 4 coats of ink:

Clearly I missed a spot, already fixed; but I plan another 3-4 coats.
They have fretboard darkening oils. You can make any fretboard black.

There is nothing I hate more than a light tan, or splotchy rosewood board. I like dark uniform fretboards, rosewood and ebony. I can’t stand the tan or reddish fretboards. I would not play one. It would bother me to much and distract t me because it’s so offensive to look upon.

But, that’s just me.

India ink results work for me.

Yup, gotta be dark or a legit blond like unroasted maple; everything else is a pretend wannabe lost in no-man's land.
