Hey guys!

I've been playing a Mark IV lately, but recently picked up a racktifier off of the forums....WOW! This really is what a recto is all about...killer amp!

It isn't much more than a one channel amp though (that one channel makes for KILLEr rhythm tones!!!), so I'd like to run it along side my Mark IV...Mark IV for cleans and leads, Rackto for rhythm.

I currently own two Mills 4x12s.

I can think of a few ways to do this...

1. Buy an amp switcher (I'd probably be looking into the Egnater SS4 or something similar) so I have either amp through both cabs.

2. But more cabs...maybe 2x12s for the Mark IV? I've not too crazy about how much more gear this would add, but it's an option

3. Run an amp per cab, and just A/B

Has anyone run a rig like this, and what was the best way to get through with it in your opinion?

Thanks!

Eric

An all out Mark IV assault is not the same, but similar to the Recto channel 3. So, I think layering them, you won't be adding a lot to the mix, unless you wanted to really scoop the shit out of the Mark IV and let the Recto run on top of it. Two amps are always better though in my book. So, I would look to split and A/B/Y them. I use an RJM Y-Not. Fairly cheap, easy to manipulate, has a good buffer, phase reverse and ground lift. Good ISO between heads and no noise.

I've used both, but i swtiched from the Mark to the DR,using both for rhythm, one 4x12 Mesa or Bogner.
I use the Radial headbone, head switcher and just one cab, sounds awsone.

I did a A/B/Y thing for awhile with a Tremoverb and IV. I set it up with each a 4x12. Cleans ~ IV. Crunch Tremoverb Red and IV Rhy with EQ. Lead Tremoverb Orange and IV lead with no EQ. Effects out front went to both amps and loop effects only on the IV.

Here is a clip from about 6 years ago with the IV, Tremoverb and Flexi. The whole song is down the thread a bit.

always wanted to do a 2 head rig, with a Mark for leads and a recto for rhythm. one day....

I run my Mark III with my Tverb sometimes. Its cool. Tverb on red ch modern. Slightly scoopy. Mark 3 nice thick and middy.

2 heads one cab since you are not running them together. I do this with the Bogners 20th XTC and Uber into a Bog 4x12

My solution for this, as I can't be bothered lugging more equipment then I have to, is two amps into one cab and just A/B them. Cab set in stereo. But I don't switch channels on the amps. One is clean, the other is dirty. And then I'll just hit the good ol' Shredmaster for some nasty leads. Or my modded DS1 through my cleanamp if I want some semidirty lead-stuff.

Talk to Code001 here. He runs a Mark series and a Mesa Ractifier.

I'd buy a RJM Y-not and make a rack with both amps, and run the rackto and Mark IV through their own cabs. I do this and It works pretty well.

I use a Dime wah as a slitter and run both amps at the same time, each with their own cab.

I only do it at home though because I'm too lazy to drag that much shit around on a regular basis.

I've run two 2-amp rigs with which I was REALLY impressed:

1. Hughes & Kettner TriAmp MK II into Heritage 30's + Marshall JVM410H into Vintage 30's
2. Diezel VH4 into Heritage 30's + Diezel Herbert into Vintage 30's

Notable mentions are:

1. Hughes & Kettner TriAmp MK II into Heritage 30's + Hughes & Kettner Trilogy into G12T-75's (the Trilogy is voice differently-enough to make it interesting)
2. Splawn Quick Rod into Marshall 425A (G12C-25's) + Splawn Nitro into Heritage 30's (nice, well-rounded tone--will be better when I switch the Nitro to KT88's).

Cheers,

Man

I would run a rig like this, I had one similar ages ago when I had a Raktifier and a Triaxis with a strategy 500.

This is similar but I had a bunch of rocktron gear and TC2290 and an H3000! it was a big rig!

I would run them both together, one amp to one cab. and then create lead presets that you can still have both running! it would be a great sounding rig!

I seriously considered it for a while.

But I love the Marshall tone/s so much, that when I got the chance to snag an old JCM 800, I got it and now run run it with the MarkIV, for all tones.
