Hey guys, whats your choices for pushing mostly JCM-JMP era heads?? I have wasted a lot on junk, so if you would, also list some to stay away from, so I can! Thanks Jim

I've tried a lot of pedals with old Marshalls...BB preamp, 808, TS9, different tube pedals.....
My favorite was the MXR 10 band EQ pedal.
Set the output of the pedal to full (using it as a clean boost basically) and raise the mid frequencies you like a bit. Works great with the amp already distorting, pushes it over the top nicely.
If you are using the Marshall clean, then I like the BB preamp the best.

I've got a Bloody Murder OD that's excellent. I don't know if Joe's still making pedals or not, but I dig mine.

Yes..that does sound good too.

I've tried SD-1, RC Booster's, Bad Monkey, MXR ZW44, but my favorite is still the TS-9 modded to 808 specs. Also I just stacked the op amp chips which made it even better, so that gets my vote.

My fav is the Tc Booster/Line Driver... set to clean boost.

Klon is my favorite. Maxon od820 is cool with a les paul.

the boost side of the Fulltone GT-500 is the bee's knees! it gets along great with my JMP, and all other amps i've tried it with, Mesa, VHT,etc. etc. it has a fuck ton of bass if you want it, and the tone controls really work. kindda adds it's own flavor to the sound, but the flavor is good.

2nd, and way cheaper choice would be a Barber Direct Drive. it should be good with a Marshall, but it does seem picky about what it will get along with amp wise.

to tell you the truth just about any overdrive distortion pedal sounds good with my Marshall's, but the fulltone OCD and the plank cranker are awesome

For me it's an OCD v.4 at 18 volts followed by a Lovekraft Mojo Drive with the toggle up. They both stack really well together as well...

Ugh I knew opening this thread there would be 8908 different choices

Only one I've kept around is the Plank Cranker for my 800. It beat out the SD1, Bad Monkey and FDII for me...

Bob Savage's old MIJ SD1 just rules. He must have added some extra mojo to it or something...?

Me too, but I do see some common threads forming, thats what I was hoping for!

Just about any EQ or TS-style overdrive works great. I have a custom one-off Bloody Murder OD coming my way in a few days that I'll be messing around with. It's like an over-the-top version of Joe's normal Bloody Murder.

Where did I find what? If you're referring to the OD, I had Joe himself custom make one for me to my specs. It has 3 or 4 diode combination selections, 3 way depth switch, and a few more goodies. I got lucky, because I think my OD is the last OD Joe's going to make.
