Only one really pops into my head right off the bat.........

"In My Dreams" Dokken
Lynch was incredible on that solo.
Not too hard to play but back in the day it stood alone!

Joe Bonamassa - Miss You, Hate You/The Ballad of John Henry
Brad Paisley - Ticks/most of his stuff...
John Petrucci - Under a Glass Moon/Goodnight Kiss
David Gilmour - Time
Nuno Bettencourt - Hip Today/Get the Funk Out
Jimi Hendrix - Bold As Love

Lots more obviously...

Tough to choose. In no particular order:

Ice Cream Man-EVH
Mr. Crowley-R. Rhoads
Eugene's Trick Bag (Crossroads)-Steve Vai
Play With Me- Nuno Bettancourt
Time- David Gilmour
Tooth and Nail- George Lynch
Lay it Down-Warren DeMartini
Crushing Day- Joe Satriani
Cowboys from Hell- Dimebag Darrell
Return to Serenity- Alex Skolnick

Lots of coolness mentioned here so far

I need to throw Randy's solo on Diary of a Madman in to the mix...I always found it absolutely haunting in its feel, phrasing, and note choice.

I was JUST about to post this tune by Sir RR... Damn classic!

Some others in no particular order:
Frank Zappa, City of Tiny Lights
Any Hendrix
SRV's rendition of Little Wing
Slash doing November Rain, simply for the tone :D
Any McLaughlin, DiMeola, or DeLucia solos - period
Most of Jimi Page's goods from the Zep era
Steve Vai's 'For the Love of God' solo...whoa!
Wes Borland's stuff
Dean DeLeo's from STP has some awesome chops...

Aw hell, the list goes on and on. But honestly, the one that sticks with me from my youth is Randy Rhoads doing Diary of a Madman, and Mr. Crowley.

Peace,
V.

I'm beginning to see why nobody liked my tone in that fuzz clip :D

Not sure I could narrow it down to a small list, but Holdsworth's "Ruhkuhkah" and "City Nights" would definitely be on that list. Guthrie... man... every other clip he puts on youtube makes my list. Metheny, Tim Miller, Jonathan Kreisberg.... lots of guys.

Well, no offense man, we're talking solos here, not farts... :hys:

But seriously, yer playin' kicksass. Period. I think most of us here are just attuned to really seeking critical tone, so when a pedal vid comes along that sounds as though it's gonna blow up, at least for me I was kinda  ...

Peace,
V.

Uli Jon Roth, the ending solo to "I'll Be There" off the Beyond the Astral Skies LP. THE most gut wrenching solo I've ever heard, the ending still sends shivers down my spine. The rest of the song sucks, the solo at the end, godlike epic.

And, all the other ones that have already been mentioned.

I'm going to have some weird ones on here.

Ozzy Ozzbourne "No More Tears" - Zakk Wylde - very well composed, kickass pentatonics with some minor melodic stuff too
Ozzy Ozzbourne "Mr. Tinkertrain" - Zakk Wylde: has all those awesome doublestop bends in there
Smashing Pumpkins "Cherub Rock" - Billy Corgain: No shredding, but just crazy, fuzzed out, soaring flangy sonic goodness.
Spacehog - "Violet Race": Great tone, great feel, I'm sure NO ONE has heard this, but give it a listen
Gun's N Roses - So hard to pick one. Slash has an amazing talent for making box-position pentatonic stuff sound melodic and memorable. I'm going to say "Paradise City" cuz it's the solo that made me want to learn guitar.

and my favorite guitar solo of all time:

(drum roll please)

Extreme "Play With Me" - Nuno Bettencourt: Just plain FUN to listen to, impossible to play. LOVE this freakin solo.

The Bell Witch- Hank Shermann
Pierced From Within- Terrance Hobbs and Doug Cerrito
Pressure Drop- Mick Jones (Clash version)

I had to learn that and Six Appeal when I was in college. I like a lot of Benny Goodman's stuff and Charlie is/was a very underrated player.

This is easy for me...#1 handsdown solo...Whole Lotta Love - Jimmy Page

Funny thing is, I'm really not a big Jimmy Page fan but that solo kicks major ass. The emotion and energy...

Ritchie Blackmore-Strange Kind of Woman (Made in Japan) Deep Purple
Jim Matheos/Frank Aresti-Monument (Inside Out) Fates Warning
John Petrucci-Under A Glass Moon (Images and Words) Dream Theater
John Sykes-Cold Sweat (Live in Japan) Blue Murder
Marty Friedman-Anything off Rust in Peace Megadeth
Victor Smolski-Down (Unity) Rage

Check out Victor ripping it up (solo starts at 2:16)

a few that come to mind immediately:

Angus Young - Back in Black
Ty Tabor - Black the Sky
Mikael Ackerfeldt - Wreath

Top of my head: (Not in Order)

Afterlife - Avenged Sevenfold (Synyster Gates/Zacky Vengence)
Find The Real - Alter Bridge (Mark Tremonti)
Cowboys From Hell - Pantera (Dimebag)
Beat it - Michael Jackson (Eddie Van Halen)

I always wanted to learn that killer ascending run in that song. That's on my list of things to learn before I die!
