I’ve always been an EMG 81 guy

Lundgren black heaven is currently my favorite, I have one in a 7 and 8 string (both tuned a step down).

I only have the ceramic version, I’m curious to try the alnico model but haven’t yet.

Lundgren M7 is currently runner-up (was my favorite for years), it’s a bit less bright, and more ‘metal’ in its voicing.

I have it on a guitar tuned in D, and it is one of my favorites. It is great for Fear Factory / Pantera style riffing.

Another cool one is the Dimarzio D Sonic. I have it on a guitar tuned in C#. Much sharper than the Duncan stuff.

I also think the Dimarzio Super Distortion does a mean Carcass type sound when tuned in B.

I've played the duncan designed "jb", Nazgul, Distortion bridge and neck, Invader and Custom 7-string versions and for downtuning I would say the Custom would be the best with the Nazgul. For standard tuning the Distortion is great and the Invader isn't bad either. I haven't played other brands passive 7-string offerings so can't compare or comment on them.

Forgot that my MH-307 had some EMG HZ pickups in it but don't think they sell those separately.

SD Black winter rails. I have a 7 with black winter soapbar, nazgul, alpha, Fishman Keith Merrow, blackout Jeff loomis, occult classic and finally EMG 81-7. My favorite is still the EMG they’re all cool but the black winter rail is pretty nasty while retaining the sort of “even” ness of the EMG
