Are we talking pop music popular or popular with guitarists?

Either way:

Dean Deleo
Richie Sambora
Vitto Bratta
Jake E. Lee

Luke Hoskin - Protest The Hero
Tosin Abasi - Animals as Leaders
Joe Stump
Brian Mccoy - Seven Spell
Rusty Cooley - Outworld

PhilX
and quite a few of you guys right here on GIR TALK

Joe Haley

he just has such great runs for a guy that doesnt play any solo's in his music

Thanks for posting Tosin's work. I downloaded his CD and love it. Don't know how I haven't heard of this guy.

Again big thanks!

We'd get along well, my friend.

Love Carnival on that CoL disc... err... and the whole rest of it...

And I still jam Seeds all the time.

Yes we would. I was crankin the self titled "Brother Cane" (1993) today. Damn good stuff. Damon is playing for Alice Cooper now. What a shame!

PETER LAKE from Theory in Practice (swedish band) the mixing of their albums sucks, but the guitar playin is brilliant

Daniel Mongrain from canadian progressive death metal band Martyr

Carl August Tideman from Winds (norway) and he played on the first Arcturus record.

Obsedian-C from Keep of Kalessin

Oh man,

Justin Derrico, guitar player for Pink. That guy is a fucking monster. Virtuosic, and incredible soul and feel.

Pink did a cover of "Babe I'm gonna Leave You" here:

Check out Justin's solo that begins around 2:38. Melts my face the fuck OFF. The guy is just so tasteful and his playing is unpredictable.

And Andy James. Why this guy is not more popular, I'll never know. He blows the fucking socks off 98% of the guys out there. Shreds like nobody's business but has great taste for notes, as well.

The thing that get's me about Andy is the way he moves his fingers makes it looks like he is playing something super complicated even when he isn't, because he seldom anchors any of his fingers to a given position.

Gary Richrath - REO Seedwagon

+ friggin' 1. he was really really really good.

I"m throwing tom Scholz into the pot, and Brad Noah from Disciple is great also.

Tony MacAlpine- superb all around musician who rarely gets talked about.

Michael Romeo- if you're not into Symphony-X chances are you've never heard of him.

Marco Sfogli- solo artist with killer phrasing.

Chris Brooks- solo artist with impressive chops.
