Your last instructional book

When did u buy your last instructional book you bought and what was it?
 
My last "tab" book or instructional book was either Shred Is Not Dead by Terry Syrek or an Yngwie tab book. Whatever it was, it's probably been 15+ years.

For me just classical guitar books lol like Pumping Nylon by Scott Tenant, Kitharlogous by Ricardo Iznaola and Abel Carlavaro exercises. Got them all for free as pdf's
 
Matteo Mancuso lessons in JTC. Not into the finger picking but I like his melodic sense

Have that Scott Tenant book, it's good. I just bought Chris Brooks "Economy picking technique."

I went to my first Plini show in 2019 in my hometown Atlanta. I think I bought two shirts.

Side note: I saw and met Rick Beato for a sec there and Plini was amazeballs good.

I travel for work and the following week was in Houston, TX. It just so happened that Plini was playing there so I bought a ticket and went. I bought the Handmade Cities songbook and another shirt. Learned a few parts and shelved it. I should get back to it there are some killer guitar parts on that record.
 
Nothing for a long long time, have a big collection of tab books and old guitar mags that I've collected over multiple decades(I'm an old fuck)...but it's been ages since I bought anything, so long I don't even remember.......last thing that tempted me was Greg's Introspection tab book...but I never pulled the trigger.
 
I still have the Eric Johnson Total Electric Guitar VHS and the second follow up on DVD. With those tiny fucking tab books that came with. :ROFLMAO:
 
I try to buy books and was even looking this weekend. That shit bores the hell out of me. I know I need to learn scales but I just never get excited about any of that stuff.

Are there any books that just show riffs or scales that are basically a solo? Whrn I look at scale books, I end up just going up the scale and never stick with it. I taught myself guitar and play by ear but always wish I had more patience and learned that stuff.
 
The last physical instruction book I bought was a Steve Vai book, it was songs, but also had some lessons in there. That was maybe 10 year ago. But I also have 3 large boxes of books and Guitar for the Practicing Musician mags going back to early/mid 80's.

However, I have several in Kindle. I have 7 in there I've purchased over the last several years. I still use one that is 3 books in one by Joseph Alexander called The Complete Technique, Theory and Scales composed of 3 books called:
The Practical Guide to Modern Music Theory
Complete Technique for modern guitar
Guitar scales in context

I learned more theory from these books than all the things I had ever tried before. I really like them and still go back and see them from time to time.
 
Is the kindle relevant these days? I like having the digital format with a nice size screen while I practice.
