You must utilize the principle of slaving/reamping.

Awesome cranked tube amp tone without attenuator mush at any volume level.

The whole time I was in the Air Force, I was in either a hard rock, punk, or metal band. When I was stationed in Hawaii, we had our annual picnic and my friend asked if we would play at it. We were on this covered trailer on the beach, facing the ocean and not even remotely close to any homes. We had gotten thru some of our original songs and a few covers, all of which were rock or punk influenced. In-between one of the songs, my Commander came over and said "We are going to have to shut you guys down. They are getting complaints from some of the neighbors". We were all like "neighbors? We are on a beach. What neighbors?". So he said we could do one last song and then walked off.

We were all pissed but were like oh well. So we all were trying to figure out what song to do and our drummer said "F**k em', let's do "Seek and Destroy". LOL! We all laughed and said "hell yeah!!". So we ended with that song. Kill em' All!!!!!

Pussy ears!!

This is so non-PC I love it.

As an audio engineer I'm supposed to say that prolonged exposure to 85dB SPL and beyond will damage your hearing, but I'm old-school so I totally get the rock 'n roll thing.

Unless you need to preserve your ears' frequency response for engineering purposes or big-time producing or something, I say turn it up and enjoy it. If you lose sensitivity over time, turn it up some more.

LOL!! I gotta go to a show with you. LOL!! Why the hell did that idiot turn around? WTF?

What band were you seeing out of curiosity? I'm in my late 40s and don't give a rat's ass what anyone says when I'm headbanging and rocking out. I want them to look at me and say "man, that old guy is weird" so I can say "yeah, you are damn right. I am weird but I'm living life and I'm not a following sheep like the rest of you standing there like zombies!!"

You look at old clips of really early Iron Maiden and everyone was headbanging. They even took cardboard cutout guitars and would air guitar the whole show. That is living man. I'm blown away that people go to shows and feel like they need to act or be a certain way. That is why we all used to go to shows!!! Seeing a band was a removal from your mundane job and your shitty life. It was a way to just shut the world out. Me and my best friend since I was a kid go to shows and we get a hotel nearby so we can drink and act like a-holes and just soak everything in. We go home battered. LOL!

I'm a big fan of high gain, multi-channel, MIDI switchable 100/50/20 watt amp heads/combo amps, amp shields, own & use them at rehearsals/onstage in the cover bands that I work with. I enjoy hanging out on this forum to interact/share ideas/occasionally buy gear. Everyone is entitled to their opinions about what is an ideal stage volume when performing live onstage with a band compared to studio rehearsals or playing in a room by yourself with your family at home. I value my hearing, still want to hear well when I get older, and wear ear plugs at concerts.

Guitar George

The drummer is always the problem. I have gigged as a drummer a dozen times or so, and it is sooooo frustrating trying to play without getting bitched at. I have gotten yelled at while using brushes FFS
Dynamics do need to exist at some point, but to piss someone off on a ride cymbal with a brush, fuck the fuck off.

If you drum enough, you would realize how much it SUCKS to use electronic drums, picture a line 6 spider first gen with the insane channel on and the mids at zero. It really is that bad.

As a guitarist who casually gigs, I know most of the bar managers by now, I try to do my best, out of respect, but they realize that drumming is the major issue. If I gig as a drummer, rods only. It still sucks though.

It was Marc Martell.
Queen official tribute.
I’ve gotten bad records my last 2 out 3 concerts.

In ear monitors work great though, if you can play that way..I tried them and off they went after 2 gigs. I love the live sound swirling around me with real floor monitors too much to switch.

Sadly my cover band went this route (IEM's and amp-less). I don't get to play my 5150 stack much anymore because of it. As a matter of fact I'm thinking of selling it. It just sits in the studio unused. The venues absolutely appreciated the change, and we got compliments from patrons on the sound, but tbh if I were in anything other than a cover band I would have objected to the change. It's a price we're forced to pay to continue to be in demand in an otherwise failing market.

Sadly, times change. We all know it ........especially as guitarists. Gotta change with the times, or we become extinct. :dunno:

Edit: Grammer and clarity

Yeah, it sucks but you are right that we have to embrace change a bit. I've stayed pretty open minded about music over the years and have found something to fill the void in-between hard rock genre "changes". I was a big hair metal guy and when that got overdone, I found Soundgarden, AIC, STP, Nirvana, etc. Then when things go overplayed with that stuff, Slipknot, Kittie, Sevendust, etc.

Everytime they say "Rock is Dead" I just laugh. I'll always find something with some solid guitar on it and enjoy it.
