Hi everybody,
i have a question after hearing the Diezel Herbert in this Youtube Clip called Brad's new Diezel Rig.
Perhaps Samhill or Brad could help me:

I have a bunch of amps. under these amps is also a Herbert, but in no way i will get this killer sound
of that video out of my herbert. Herberts voicing is much to dark, no sizzle in the top end and
a specific pronouned frequency in the lower mids.
So my question:
What are the amp settingfs of this clip ?
And ist there something like a external EQ in the loop of the amp (settings please) ?
Is one of the pedals involved, BB Preamp or the other ?

My cab is a Marshall Cab with also G12Hs, and i have a guitar with Duncan AHB-1 (Charvel).
But i couldn't get it.
I know, Mark is a killer guitar player ... ;)

Well for one he has a detune patch going on and running wet/dry as well, that vid is not just a Herbert.

i know this is off topic, but this is the first time ive seen the poster with a join date 3 days after the replier, and theres a 14,000 post difference

also brad doesnt have that rig anymore, and i doubt he could recall the settings - maybe give mark a PM - he goes by samhill here on the forum.

good luck on your tone quest

Brad doesn't have the Rig anymore ?
The only reason should be that such a rack is to heavy and doesn't fit the backseat of a car ? :)

Do you know, what gear he is using now ?

Thats a great question. I see he has some things for sale so he might be making a change again. What ever he has it sounds awesome!!

That rig killed and was 90% Diezel Herbert tone. Gain was dimed, mid cut was on, mids around 6, bass half way up, TC G Major with some detune and delay, Decimator Pro Rack G, None of the pedals were going in that video I dont believe, Mark Day built it and it sounded ungodly, just way to big to move around.

+1 on that! That video is THE EXACT sound I've been looking for! What speakers were in your cabs, are they the G12Hs?

stock Marshall handwired Angle cab with G12H's

Brad, thank you for the informations,

but it is frustrating me, that i can't get my herbert sound like yours in the video.
Do you know which tubes you had in the herbert, EL34 or 6550 ?

Do you remember your Presence and deep settings, because i think this knobs has the greatest
influence ?

Gain on 10 and the Duncan Blackouts ? whow, for my herb that is to much,i can't get your definition.

And i think Mark played very loud in that video, so opening up the power amp is important too,
but i think i will get feedback in such a litle room and the volume high ?

The mids in channel 3 on 6 ? That's suprising me. Channel 3 has a lot of mids, o.k. the mid cut...
But in the video the sound is more scooped, so i thought your has used the internal EQ
of the G-Major, to scoop some mids...

I think everything just worked together on that rig  Ive tried to match that sound also, I'm getting kind of close but it still seems I'm still off. Oh well, it gives ya something to shoot for!

active Pickups, full Gain on Herbs channel 3 an a micro amp as a boost on top ? :scared:
i don't think so.
In the rack i don't see any microamp.
But a RC Booster and BB Preamp. Brad has written, there are not in use in the video.

Sorry I messed that up, Mark is using two micro amps with his CAA/Suhr, one for rhythm and the second on top for leads. I know he likes to boost though.

Whatever it was, I bet that vid sold a few Herberts ... at least it made me think of one very hard

didn't Mark say he used 1 or 2 MXR Micro Amps to boost?

Nope, we just had a Zack MXR Overdrive but it was not on in that video.

I'm now the owner of that very Herbert in the video! Still sounds awesome
