Gain dimed? I do not take mine past 1 oclock with SD 59s and that is heavy as fuck.

I'm now the owner of that very Herbert in the video! Still sounds awesome
NICE!! What tubes are in it? Thank you

Yes, and which settings do you use ?
Which cab ? Guitar ? Pickups ? Pedals ?

No boost on that clip and I think the gain was around 7 (but I can't truly remember...I don't normally dime the gain on anything). The amp sounded killer. It haunts me every so often. I wish I oculd have kept it in the studio for a couple of weeks :)

I use 2 MXR Microamps on my CAA rig one set for rhythm and one for leads.
It seems to tighten everything up a bit :)

Still has the same pre's as it had when Brad owned it and honestly, I've never taken a peek to see what they are. They're dead quiet and sound great so I just left 'em alone. The power tubes though were replaced with a new matched set of Ruby EL34BHT's and biased (of course). Those things just RIP! Thunderous low-end and overall great sound.

For BM510: I run the head though either a new Diezel FL 4x12 w/ G12K-100s or a Bogner 4x12 w/ Hellatone 60L's. I use a 1988 Les Paul Std all stock. No pedals really aside from occasionally a megavibe in front for solos. I basically live on Ch2+ and dabble with Ch3 and Ch1, though very rarely. With gain set around 4 I can clean up quite a bit (well, not really clean, but clean-ish) with just guitar volume.

Try playing a stock strat thru a stock Marshall, you white haired over gained bitch

Man talk about uncalled for. Carla or someone of Carla's type strikes again!

night after night show after show 5 1/2 years later my HERBERT is still the KING of all amps, never, never ever have i gotten tired of it, some many amps have come n gone....but what takes the cake is when I play out n devour the next guys rig, and the sound guy or the other band comes up n sez, Ive recently added a diezel vh4, another smoking amp, its like the lioness and herbert is the lion.Thats how I compare them.

Now , I need some new cabinets....still dickin around checkin em out, Diezel cabs are way FKN overpriced, im thinkin stoneage! that video , the cabs in it rule, however, dont want a marshall logo, so stoneage makes marshall replicas n i put those fuckin magic mojo monster killer sounding speakers in it, n Yeah! its on!..... ive played thru diezels cabs, yes the new one, did someone say HYPE?

i have tried to find the settings of the Herbert in the Limelight HRI Gearfest Video,
i hope there are right:

Channel 3 Gain Full Volume 11 o'clock Treble 2 o'clock Mid 11 o'clock Bass 5 o'clock
Midcut Intensity 11 o'clock Level 2 o'clock
Presence 11 or 17 o'clock (can't see it right, i think 17 o'clock)
Deep 8 or 2 o'clock (can't see it right)

That are more extreme settings than i use normally (all around noon and presence 2 oclock).

I have to try that settings in rehearsal on sunday.
Perhaps this is the key to that great Herbert sound... :)

What do you think ?

I kid you not... THIS is what the herbert sounds like with the NEW RL Hemcone 4X12 cabinet..
Amazingly perfect for rythym, but for me too grainy for the smooth lead tone im going after..

Same, says private.

Also i just got bumped after hitting send like they discuss in the other thread.

The video is from 3 years ago as is this thread, the owner has it listed private now, just like it says.

I have this video saved on my computer. I've uploaded it to YouTube for those who want to see it (I'll take it back down when the thread dies):

Hurray for three-year-old bumps. :P

If you've had them for that long, you should probably see a doctor. :D
