Zakk Has Left Gibson And Marshall...

given his tone and guitar aesthetics....I'm voting on this being a terrible move.

Is Sierra Nevada getting into the music Biz?

And for anyone wanted to chase Zakk's tone, when it was cool. Just grab a pair of Mesa 1x12 Thiele cabs with the EV 200 watt speakers. And make sure you play just a few notes in between all the pinch harmonics.

This thread delivers.. so many good Wylde jokes...

I agree with all of them. His tone is an 800, SD-1 soaked in chorus and EMG pups. Lots of squealies and fast pentatonics. I stopped caring after Pride and Glory (awesome stuff) and No More Tears was his best work. He hasn't been relevant to anyone but bikers and 13 year olds for years if you as me. Might be nice to have an affordable 800 out there though. Bugera never did that one, they stopped at their plexi clone.

I can't say because I have no idea of the details but I am curious of how this could be a bad move for him.

The only way it could is if he invested some money himself and it tanks. I doubt he put much money into this if any at all.

I would imagine there are alot of BLS die hards out there that also play and would buy this simply because of the name.

Lots of companies make Sig models and profit.

I think Zakk is making a big mistake here. The guitars look butt ugly from what i've seen, and if the amp is just a JCM800 clone I don't see it really being a big seller... there are just too many 800 clones out there already. We'll see... Zakk is really irrelevant these days, maybe 15 or 20 years ago these would have been a big seller??

There aren't a lot of cheap, sub-$1000 JCM800 clones out there, which seems to be what they're going for.

The move seems a little odd to me, but what do I know.

This will be an awesome development for the consumer, as it should help us to not accidentally purchase any ZW endorsed gear from otherwise reputable manufacturers.

I see a lot of people saying he's irrelevant now but is he really? I haven't really listened to much of his BLS stuff but doesn't he still sell out shows? Isn't there a bunch of up and comers (kids) listening to his stuff and wanting to mimic him?

Did he officially "leave" Gibson and Marshall? Or is he possibly creating a spin-off company to push signature gear for the budget conscious players?

Will be interesting to see if he "leaves" MXR and starts a line of pedals as well...

...that logo...the "W" with the little horn/hook looking thingie...is that supposed to be a Devil Horn? Or is it supposed to mimic his fingernail?

Might work if they get someone good to do the demos.

I jest. I like a good bit of vintage Zakk.
I hear he has cleaned up his act, so power to him as this is not an easy thing to do.
A well made, more affordable Gibson-like product is surely both welcome and needed.
There is enough angst in the Gibson thread for this to be a plus, surely?
And stop calling me Shirley (I'll pre-empt that one).

So how does Zakky propose too copy the LPC and 800 he is known for?
Bugera and Agile?
Seems like a big mis step for a guy already on the cusp of being irrelevant.

Lets wait and hear it first. And lets be honest, alot of guys on this forum who post clips with the 5k amp of the month will never accomplish or come close to this guy's talent. Moreover, give Zakk a practice amp and an Epiphone and he would probably mop the floor with 99.9% of the the Rigtalkers with the 5k amps. Im sure if he ever checked out some of the clips people post on this sight he would ask himself the following: (because alot of guys i know ask the same thing).....4k amp (whatever the flavor of the week is) , Custom Shop guitar, handmade cabs....and still sound like garbage???? I mean, an open G, maybe a badly played Van Halen or Ratt riff.... this is what you can get out of 10k worth of gear???? .... Money does not equal talent..You know who you are and know that the truth hurts. I hear he is going out on another U.S tour this spring and maybe Europe..cusp of being irrelevant???..what do you have going on?

I wondered the same thing. It's probably an ode to his queer fingernail. Dude is worse than reheated tv dinner.

Maybe they left him?
This! They don't do endorsement based on what you did 10+ years ago.

Jake E. Lee - Charvel
DeMartini - Charvel
Lynch - ESP

If these guys can get a deal then.....Zakk did more for Gibson and Marshall the last 15 yrs than anyone...from those stupid SG-Vs, bullseye epihones, silly coffin guitars, to the grail custom shop...both companies would be stupid to let him go based on a business standpoint.

Zakk wouldn't care, a sale is a sale.

People buy what they can afford and want, it has nothing to do with ability.

So painfully true...the clips on this forum are proof of that. Then they should be able to afford lessons to go along with that shiny new amp. :)
