What's funny is many of the people who wound up blacklisted turned out to be communist party members. Too bad it didn't stay that way.

Agreed, and I say that not just cause his politics suck. He just wasn't particularly good and then tried to gatekeep the folk scene. It's funny hearing him try to re-spin what went down at Newport but it's pretty obvious he was extremely butthurt and offended at the time, lol.

Who knows but he seemed bitter and per some Joan Baez interviews it seems obvious that the communist folk music set were very disappointed that Dylan didn't want to be their poster boy for endless social activism.
