Hi all! I happend to have both the Suhr Reactive Load and the newest Fryette Power Load at home so I did some QUICK recordings. Playing is really awful and was just meant for me to listen to their differences in recording (please don't judge the playing... :aww: ). Recorded a DI track and reamped through a Little Labs 3D Redeye. The only variable should be the load device.

Guitar: Ibanez RG3120F with Dimarzio CrunchLab + Air Norton
Amp: Friedman Dirty Shirley 40w
IR: Celestion IR 4x12 with G12M-65 Creamback
DAW: Presonus Studio One

Just wanted to share this with you :)

The power load is a smidget clearer and not as full but the difference isn't that huge. I have the reload but tend to use it more just to attenuate as I am not 100% sold on impulses. I find they are is always a slight fizz for my ear. Stack guitars and it adds up.

Thanks for posting this--been very interested in these two recently. If you recall, what were the switch settings on the Fryette?

Fryette V1 = Edge - Deep
Fryette V2 = Brite - Warm

Thanks for sharing this! I found the results surprising (to my ears). Much preferred the powerload V1, which had the best clarity and crispness. I found the reactive load and V2 very similar, with a more “damp” sound.

Pretty surprised that the V1 and V2 sound so different.

Very interesting. Just curious, with the Suhr RL where did you have the di level? I find I get the best results (clarity) if I have it dimed all the way to the right and have the amp's master volume and interface's input at a lower level. But I guess that kind of kills the purpose of cranking up your amp for silent recording

Is that the way you've always run your Suhr? I thought you had it set up the opposite way, with the Suhr di all the way to the left.

Hold on... i'm at work atm but if all the way to the right is zero attenuation then that's the one. When ever I start cranking my amps and use the di level to attenuate it gets muddier sounding to me. I have it all the way the off/zero attenuation.

I'll try that the next time I use my Suhr. I've been setting my amps to their sweet spot and the input on my Rubix around one o' clock, Suhr di to far left.
