holy shit, that essex studio guy is smokin some whack euro crack. 72k for a dean? Dave is still alive too...imagine if he was dead...the guy'd be asking 500k.

Esses Recording Studio is well known for doing this.

The studio is in Britain if I remember correctly. Have always wondered how he gets to his listing price. Is it because he is in Europe and instruments tend to be more expensive over there?

I know at one point he had a Super Dinky with no artist affiliation listed for over $2,000. At the time they were selling in the US used for ~$700-800.

I have always viewed his listings as more of a brag/vanity type of thing, “look at what I have”... but of course he will sell to you at crazy profit margins if you are stupid enough to do so.

I cannot imagine what they must charge for recording and production services.

Has he been able to sell any of them at those prices?
What is strange to me is that the price is so absurd it almost looks like the intent is not to sell. Maybe its just to somehow (in their mind) increase the value.

I was also thinking, what if he was asking $12k? $8k? $4k? At what point would people NOT be pissed?

If I was Dave I'd get one of my business savvy lawyers with some muscle to let that guy know that what he is doing is not cool. Not illegal per say, but very uncool. That was not the intent of all of this. One of these days someone is going to walk into that Essex place and get tricked. Someone who doesn't know gear and the back story. And the Essex guy will be like, "You look like a true Megadeth fan. I'll tell you what I'll do. You buy this guitar today and I'll give it to you for $65k and throw in this sticker." :gethim:

Yeah, Mustaine priced them very fairly compared to any of the other artist sales on reverb. Most guitars were around 2k. He said he wanted them to go to his die hard fans.

I am still confused as how that guy got every guitar when a lot of guys were trying to buy them at the same time?!?!? What????

Yeah there is something amiss there. The only thing that would make sense is that the Essex guy positioned himself as someone who could help by taking all the transactional pieces away. But when the dust settled, the concept of what Dave wanted was lost and there is not much anyone can do about it except warn future buyers of the overpriced practice.

This is one of those pieces of shit that we have all encountered(both male and female)who will say anything to not only justify their actions to get what they want but try to get everyone to buy into their bullshit. They will always turn around and do whatever they want not caring at all how it makes them look. Greed and power are amazing motivators. Fuck him and anyone like him. They are ALWAYS full of shit.

This is just straight up fucking wrong but it does make me wonder how is "die hard fan" defined? Is it enough for Dave to say these are for my die hard fans when there are die hard fans of different income levels? Zuckerberg could be a huge Megadeth fan and buy all of these guitars and be as concerned as when I lose a quarter in the couch. I think the reality is that if Dave wanted these guitars to go to fans with "normal" means he, or someone, would almost need to vet each transaction for "worthiness".

But yeah, how the FUCK did they get all of them???

Maybe Mustaine and the Essex guy have an agreement to funnel some funds back to Mustaine.

That’s the baffling part, when so many were trying to buy them and one guy got all of them? Whoa!!

I remember the guy who bought them explaining how he did it. Some sort of click and paste thing.

The other thing that bothers me is that Dave is a very smart guy and has business savvy.

I don't think he would have allowed this to happen had he known. Something is amiss. The only thing that makes sense is that he got tricked. Maybe someone else was put in charge of taking care of this and screwed it up?

Screwed up what, he offed his worthless/hardly collectables to one lame? His old Jacksons were the real deal and he certainly has a few he didn't sell. Not one single modded jcm800 was sold and I know he used all kinds of 800's in the past, not sure who modded his stuff. That is more interesting than who bought his Deans. Was his 2150/CAE 3+ SE rack sold off, I can't remember that...

Why, what does he really have?! All that is crap...what is special, what?

Let us summarize

1. The Essex guy is an asshole. Point proved.
2. Mustaine made a mistake. Well, not the first time in his career :D, but he will get over it (or not).

:dunno: Nothing new here.

I wonder what he said exactly? No way he did what he said, he either used some sort of program or had like 30 friends waiting to each but a guitar so they snagged all of them. Within seconds of going live with the mustaine sale, he bought every one of them.

Mind you I am VERY computer illiterate, but it was kinda like when you copy a text and have two little arrows and you move them to cover the entire post. He did the same "sort" of thing with the listings and hit "buy it now"(or whatever)the moment the auction started. He explained it in a post somewhere right after it came to light that day that he had snagged everything and people were hounding him about how he did it.

I personally didn't care, there was nothing I wanted in the sale. Believe me,I looked hard because I am a fanboy. I kinda thought about one of the double-neck graphic guitars, but it just would have been wall art.
