Tone Dracula rules fr . Check out Red Wolf his band . Really good

I posted one of his heavy tunes, the other guitar player who is the singer in his band is quite impressive.

Yeah I've been checking of Red Wolfs songs and it's good stuff.

Hail Count Dragula!

That 800 sounds killer. And it's horizontal input, had they cheapened the 2203 filtering by '84?

85 is when they started to reduce the can caps...I've had an 84 with vertical inputs and one with horizontal. Both had 6 cans. The 85s could have 5 or 4...then by 86 they had 3. In my experience anyway.

That's a killer 2203.

Harddriver are you the count ? Just wondering
No I am not... I'm in the US this guy is from Europe, he mentions playing in Finland alot but I'm not sure if he is from there his accent is hard to place... he almost sounds Slavic or Romanian,(Yeah... the Count should be from Romania right? Czech or Yugoslavian but I could be wrong on all accounts..

I just like his channel because he does the kind of testing that I would want to hear in a real world kind of way without being pretentious he plays stuff off the cuff and doesn't edit the clams, he just laughs it off and keeps playing and doesn't take himself too seriously and the fact that he can really play is a plus and seems to know his shit.

How many times have we asked how does an 82 2203 compare to an 84 and 85, well this guy does those comparisons, I figure I'm not the only that enjoys hearing some of these amps back to back A/B'd, he just has alot of different stuff on his channel that are topics of discussion IMHO.

Just not Will it Chug like Ola does.

Here's the singer/guitar player for Red Wolf, this boy can play as well as the Count!

I think the tone of his Red Wolf songs even better than the demo videos

I think it was 85-86, but don't quote me on that. The did it in stages, 6 cans on the early ones, then to 5, then 3. The internet will tell you that later ones lack 'punch' but this is BS in my experience. A well-maintained latter model will tear your head off in the best possible way.

I like his YT channel and the tones he gets are great.
But, his ‘bad boy’ 2203 is modded, don’t know why he insinuates often that it’s stock. It’s clearly not stock.
The mods are good, whatever they are.
He’s a cool dude and great player.?

There's talk out there; maybe on the Marshall forum that says the quality of the transformers waned a bit in the mid-late 80s. Also, even though the can caps were reduced, that the filtering still remained the same? I have no idea. I did have an 86 2203 that was a bit anemic...yet I've had some 87-88 2205/10's that were absolute beasts. I've never had an anemic 82-84 2203/4 however. And, those earlier 82-83s all had 500+V Pts.

I haven't heard or seen any evidence of the transformer thing but it's possible. And yes, although the number of cans decreased the filtering didn't, although there's probably exceptions.

I picked up a mid-80's three can 2203 a while back that also sounded anemic. Fresh cans and tubes did the trick and now it's one of my favourite amps - keeps up with my 79 2203 just fine.
