If you guys cant stick to a simple topic like this EVH amp, without becoming unglued, then how do you deal with other life areas?

Are you guys that fuckin weak minded that you cant have a discussion?
You sound pathetic, and this is the problem with boards like these.

It's not the board's fault, but the demographic that's involved. Can we make a PG14 section and mandate these people to it?

If you guys need tissues for your tears, go get em.
If your post was about the EVH amp instead of complaining, then this thread would include that many more posts about the EVH amp instead of other things. But now it Includes posts about both other things and now even complaining. So you've just made the thread that much worse.

Exactly. I'm totally cool talking about the EVH amp as long as bloodrock shuts his retarded boomer mouth. If he doesnt, i'm just going to keep making fun of him, because hes a jerk. And sometimes jerks need to know that they aren't as cool of guys as they think they are.

Forums and social media in general are platforms for faceless people to act like prepubescent idiots without consequence. An opportunity to yell at someone they have zero chance of ever knowing, about a topic that nobody cares about. Nobody really gives two shits about any of you
Speak for yourself.

I’ve met lifelong friends in person at amp fests from this forum and sold killer gear to killer people I now call friends all over the east coast.

You can make this forum as imaginary as you want, but you can in fact grow relationships over time that are not limited to forum bashing and name calling.

Yeah. I agree with Glpg80. Me and him have had disagreements about what amps are best. But we are always cordial. There are some jackoffs on here that like to troll. And there are assholes (like me) that aren't afraid of confrontation. But I like a lot of guys on this site.

I’ll reserve judgement on the amp until I can play one. Both those clips didn’t leave me excited, but that’s nothing new. For under a grand I’m not expecting much and am a bit more excited about the 6505 II/6505 ‘92 Peavey is putting out (also MIC, so there’s that….but BadSeed seems to really dig it). They did a good job putting that 5150 logo on, it’s where half my excitement is coming from. :ROFLMAO:

That said, I’m just a chugga chugga metal idiot who tries to force Gilmour into everything I play, so I might just be fucked and should probably just stick to my AxeFX.

Yeah I'm also pumped about the new 6505 with the much better faceplate (and that should have a few component upgrades to better match the quality of the original amps) as well.

I don't have an original 5150 and I'd like to get one at some point. But, these upcoming versions look appealing enough that I really don't care about the old 5150's anymore, especially due to the component upgrades coming with the new amps that are said to reverse whatever component cost savings were introduced to the chinese models.

At the very least, the new versions might drive down the price of used 5150's. But even if they don't, I'd probably rather just get one of the newer ones anyway than risk the reliability of an almost 30 year old amp at this point. And if there's any amp that has a reputation for being ridden hard and put up wet, it's an original 5150, the ultimate road dog amp, lol. I don't know what it is but I've never seen any amps beaten up like old 5150's. So maybe one of the upcoming ones is just the better way to go anyway, hah.

Honesty is a rare commodity. :salute:

I can't imagine why anyone who uses excessive preamp gain would need with anything other than an AxeFX and/or Kemper. I've owned a shit-ton of amps and modelers since 1978. Had AxeFx and Kemper been around then, I would have simply converted a Marshall head box to a rear facing rack system. 90% of my original material was recorded using a Roland VG, ZOOM, Johnson J-Station and Digitech RP floor unit. When asked what I used, I give them a BS list of tubes amps... No one has ever questioned it.

I agree, the 6505 ii seems much more interesting if you're going for that sound.

Oh hey, another video:

All three amps sound really close. I think the Iconic sounds a bit crispier, maybe tighter than the others. I think the OG and 3 have a bit more body in the mids but that's getting nitpicky.

Personally I'd rather go with a 6505 than a 6505 II.

Some guys love it but for me personally I've always thought the 6505 II filters just a bit too much bass from the preamp, and with the 6505 II's aggressive low end filtering combined with my personal guitar/pickups/playing, thinks can get a bit honky. The OG is where it's at for me. :)

Also, I usually run a small EQ pedal into the input that lets me filter away exactly as much incoming bass as the sound requires anyway, so I'd rather have the option of doing it myself than having it done for me in a locked-in way.

The iconic sounds the best in this video imho. James Brown knows how to make a killer guitar amp...

If I was 18 and could buy that amp for $900 or whatever, man that would have been the coolest shit ever. It does not sound that bad, honestly to me....it is what I predicted 6 months ago. The EVH nerds will hate it, and it will firmly gain a following in the death metal/metal community as a reliable option for decent tone.

I thought it sounded alright from the clips. Not as bad to me as it could have been. It is not my cup of tea at this point, but I could have rocked that at 18 LOL.

I do not see it as the "Iconic" EVH amp. To me, that would be something that sounded more like the Marshall he used on his early records. Less pre amp and more power amp saturation.
