I liked the sound of the gain maxed on the clean channel. Seemed more usable than the gain on the dirty, which is probably the diode clipping like you said.There some some diode clipping in the circuit

I had a 60 LONG ago in the mid 90s....failed on me multiple times. I forget what the problem was but it's something to check out; I believe it was chronic to the mid 90s versions.I had a JTM30. I don’t want to burst your bubble, but it was so bad I gave it to an ex girlfriend that burnt my home down. Swear to god….that’s true.
