Straight in that amp reminds of a crunchy 80s ZZ TOP crunch. Can get close to a Slayer thrashy . It’s definitely great for AC/DC crunch too. My student brought while half stack in one day

I liked the sound of the gain maxed on the clean channel. Seemed more usable than the gain on the dirty, which is probably the diode clipping like you said.

I had a 60 LONG ago in the mid 90s....failed on me multiple times. I forget what the problem was but it's something to check out; I believe it was chronic to the mid 90s versions.
