So my band is recording our album with a Mark IIC++ Coliseum.

Hey guys, we've just dropped our first single from the album we're recording & I wanted to share the tone with y'all. Most of the album, including this song, is tracked with my switchable C+/++ KRG. There will be other songs that use my Tremoverb, and hopefully also the DR Rev C I recently picked up. I'm pretty happy with how it's going for our first effort! We've got 3 songs done & 6 more not started yet so lots of room for tweaking & new ideas. Here's the signal chain- how does it sound to you? Rhythms boosted by a Dino OD on C+ mode w/ EMG 81 and a Recto straight traditional 4x12 w/ stock V30s

E609 & SM7B mic blend. Interesting note, the SM7B actually sounded killer all by itself. That was a surprise.

Thanks everyone! I've spent so much time obsessing over the tone I'm happy to hear that other guys dig it too. Here's some pics of the recording setup. Same settings between + & ++, I just pulled the middle knob to activate ++ & turned off the boost.

In hindsight while I like having the 2200 slider up for playing live, I don't think I like it for recording. Will change that next time.

Note the Limit board setting on the back. That is KEY so we can get the master volume up around 5. It's a lot thicker this way than no limiter & the MV more like 2.

I've found that the best recorded tone (at least with my Mesas) is in the 100-105dB range, which is where we were here.

What is the limit board?

The Limit board is a built in attenuator that accomplished this by throttling the phase inverter tubes. This came in the following Mesas (that I'm aware of)
- All SOBs
- VERY late Mark IIB coliseums
- Mark IIC coliseums
- Mark IIC+ coliseums
