Seriously, what are people thinking with these used gear prices?

I've sold some gear lately and it's taking forever for things to sell and I've been selling it at great prices. I think the market sucks right now
 
I have a 95 Japanese Tele that I bought for $400 six months ago. I have seen the on reverb for over a grand.

Same, I took a bath selling my AxeFX3 MK2, Matrix and FC-12 foot controller. Granted all these items are in production or have been “updated” but I thought I would’ve done a little better than I did.
 
I try to price fairly. Reverb is a pain. Ultimately I know what I need to get out do something and price accordingly. I take into account lowballer’s and tire kickers.
 
Pricing over on reverb has been so crazy. I'm sure a chunk of it is people trying to take advantage of a situation. But I've started to wonder how much of it is people who tried picking up guitar during lockdown, didn't follow through and are trying to dump their gear. They didn't understand what the bought in the first place, probably bought new or overpaid to begin with are are trying to recoup costs. Plus they just look at other listing price and put theirs at the highest price point. Then it's a snowball effect from there.

Maybe after all these ridiculous listings sit for long enough prices will start to fall.... one can hope anyway
 
Yep, I was looking for some T75's on the cheap. Found a guy on Reverb with a pair removed from a "new" Marshall cab. Listed above retail plus $40 shipping lol.

Decided to inquire anyways, asked for a photo of the date code but he had already boxed them and didn't want to reopen LOL. Turns out he bought the cab in 2009 but STILL has them listed as being out of a "new" Marshall cab. Amateur sellers got nothin on seasoned buyers, but it keeps you on your toes for sure!

That’s the worst. What a prick. If you agree on a price, sell it for that price. People’s greed apparently has no bounds. I don’t know why, maybe it’s me, but I find it particularly distasteful and gross when it’s a fellow musician. Like the guy who bought Gtrwun Mesa for I think 3500?, and turns around and lists it for 10 or 11k or whatever he listed it for. Those greedy guys don’t care, all these other guys see that super expensive price and their greed sets in and then they do the same, and then it spreads to this guitar and that amp, etc. now the majority of gear is selling for way above value.

Don’t even get me started on the scammers and shysters. So many dishonest sellers out there. I’ve read so many horror stories over the past 6 months. Those sons of bitches on reverb who list gear as mint and it arrives and it’s in fair condition at best, covered in dents, dings, scratches and dents!! Or the guitar you are looking at on reverb that quickly sells only to be listed a few days later for 2k more than a few days previous. Whoa. I contacted one of those guys, and said, “cool guitar, have you had it long?” (Because now the condition of the guitar went from good to great/mint. The guy lied and said he had it since it was new and he only played it a handful of times and it lived in its case. A few days before it said it was hugged regularly and there was some play wear and minor dents and dings. So bold especially because the guitar was posted by someone else just a few days prior.

There was a amp on reverb a few days ago, and the guy listed it for about 10k.(usually sells for 2500 to 3k used) Why? No idea. Anyhow, the same amp, not same model, but the exact same amp was listed by someone else for the same price, about 10k. Unbelievable.

Must calm myself, getting too fired up right now. Maybe it’s just me and nobody else is bothered by this stuff. Maybe I am the dumb ass for giving forum friends good deals on gear?

yeah dude, you gotta chill. most people see ridiculous listings, laugh at it and go about their day, you make threads about it pissed off. play guitar

The amp on reverb has been lowered to about $6500. It’s a jp2c. There are two people selling the same amp at the exact same overinflated price. Unless it’s the same guy using two different accounts for some strange reason? Don’t know.
