Is that good or bad? I've never listened to that one. ?Sounds like Metallicas Death Magnetic.

Exactly. Those boosts don’t suck lows, add mids, and thin out your tone like a typical TS or OD.If Jeremy is using the OD1X, it doesn’t thin anything out. It leaves the low end alone. The Dino can also be dialed in that way too.
You're right. There really is nothing wrong with the clip he posted, it does sound pretty good. I'm just adding my 2 cents for what it's worth, just suggestions to make it sound better, possibly. I do know that "clank" sound you are talking about, it's right at about 7 or 8 on the treble control of a IV.I'm not really a mark guy, but at that point isn't it just his stylistic preferences?
Oh, didn't know that.Exactly. Those boosts don’t suck lows, add mids, and thin out your tone like a typical TS or OD.
They’ve got bass controls and can be set to sound really thick.Oh, didn't know that.
I do love that "clank". The IV gets there easier than any other Mark and does it very distinctively. My B+ is not far behind it. With all the others I have to get the treble to at least 9, and sometimes boost it too, to get there. You're right. There really is nothing wrong with the clip he posted, it does sound pretty good. Have you tried your Coliseum IIC+ through two 4x12 cabs? (4 ohms) I do this with my Mark IV and this really balances out the amp a bit so I can raise the 750 up quite a bit more without any honk, i can even turn the EQ off and it still sounds good and fat with no honk to the tone. Maybe this is just a IV thing, but I seem to remember my red stripe III being similar. Using two 4x12 v30 loaded cabs is the shit! especially if they're different types of 4x12's, so you get a fuller sound, like a traditional and a standard. They both put out different mids, so the mix of both is usually huge.I much prefer the upper mid tone of an elevated 2200 to the honky mid tone of the 750- at least in the live mix. As it turns out, when you're multi-tracking in the studio the standard V does seem to work out better.
I think Marks work just as well as recto's live, you just gotta embrace those mids, and if not using the 750 that much, then dial in a really bright tone with lots of presence to add clarity and the 2200 up high. It's possible to make them cut just as well as a recto. I've buried Marshall's with a Mark III and a V30 loaded cab, so if I can do that, then it should be easy to cut just as well as a recto, if not better.Yes on the full stack (on the floor, not vertical) however I've never looked at it as a way to raise the 750 back up. Lately I've been deep diving into treble pushed (more rock) vs. pulled (more metal), and pull deep pushed with a re-EQ vs. pulled. With the smaller power sections pulling deep really gets into a boxy thing that's hard to EQ around in the band mix. Beyond Black is actually coming by my house in a few hours, gonna show him some of this stuff I've been working on tonally.
Agreed on the fine balance of those! In the band a bit more top end is a lot more useful than at home, which is why I think Recto fizz works so well in the live mix! That said for multi-track recording, it's just really hard to beat a IIC+.
Just dropped song #2! The one difference on this one tonally is I used my ESP Lynch purple tiger loaded with a JWP Iron Man.

It's a bad ass PUP for sure. It REALLY shines with my Rectos. Bet it crushes with the Larry!Man the transients are instantly recognizable. Jim Wagner knows what the fuck hes doing.
Obviously I always do this into a larry instead of a mark, but the way the kerrang and grind behave is unmistakeable.

Sounds like a job for the IIB+.Thank you! We're super happy with how the whole album is coming along- it's all following a theme, with some sonic variety to the songs. The next song gets slowed down a bit & is super dark, one of my favorites.![]()
