Lol no way, it’s my favorite noise gate. The best I’ve had with keeping the tone and decay in tact (still not perfect, but better than the others I’ve had). At first I was disappointed because I wasn’t hooking it up properly, but now feel like an idiot since then haha
 
I keep thinking if i tell you to do things, one of these times it will work. I need to focus on the purple face

The Natas and Meshuggah were very disappointing for me when I played them, but they’re not his own creations. Haven’t tried his modded Marshall’s, but had a Gower KK++ and Rockmonster modded Marshall that I’ve heard are similar to Fortin’s. Those were imo pretty good, but not amazing
 
Well I preordered the Fortin. After what some of you guys have said, I had to see for myself. Never owned a proper tube screamer before either so this seems like a good launching point.

I recently picked up a Decibelics Golden Royale and it rips way harder than I expected. Told myself no more OD's this summer...right :D

Nice! Fwiw, I think the Fortin one is a different flavor than a stock tube screamer and this new one may diverge from that even more, so if you don’t like it doesn’t mean you may not like a more stock TS sound. I’m borrowing from a friend right now a real vintage TS808 and TS9

I’ve got a Golden Royale and Golden Horse myself. I’m honestly much more impressed with my Fortin tubescreamers, but maybe that’s just because I have a real Klon to compare with

Yeah I've got mixed feelings on the Golden Royale. I think it sounds excellent - It has a huge range and can get pretty tight/grindy but the buffer is picky with other pedals in the chain. My impression so far is that it can be used for metal applications but may be better tailored to other genres. I've never owned a real Klon and probably never will, so I figure this is the next best option to test out the circuit and see if I like it. Build quality is as good as it gets.

Looking forward to seeing how this Fortin stacks up against some of my favorites, like V1 Koko Boost, Buxom Boost, VFE Standout, and Pro Tone Dino.

Agreed on all. I think it does do other genres better, but can do metal well when used with the right stuff. It is the next best option of what I’ve tried and can’t argue on the build quality, but to be perfectly honest it’s a pretty distant 2nd best to my ears

The Fortin (at least the 2 ones I have, not the one you pre-ordered) is a very different flavor than those 4 (I’ve had those exact 4 also), so it may not send any packing. I still have a Dino, but will likely sell it
 
I still have not found any video that compares the Hex Drive with the newer Fortin mod TS pedals. I wish I knew what the Hex drive actually does (what it’s most similar too) it’s more modern compared to my SD-1, you don’t get that vintage bounce to it when riffing, but it does have a ton more drive and retains the low end that you can tighten up with the tone knob.
 
I've had the Fortin Ibby TS for more than a few weeks now. Killer pedal. Lots of volume boost if needed. It sounds sharper and has a faster attack than my MXR badass od, not quite as sharp as my 808x or my memory of Grind (which can be a good thing). Sounds amazing as a clean boost for detuned metal or as a traditional 10 o'clock gain with a single coil neck pickup for blues rock. I would have flipped for mad profit but it is my favorite OD and never comes off my board. Your Mileage May Not Vary

Ooops, I have and was talking about the Fortin TS9, not the recent Fortin 808. A tubescreamer mixup on my part.
Chances are, the review would be the same anyway lol
