Access analog is a killer plugin/subscription that allows you to access over 200k of real analog equipment for use on your tracks. So, I thought I’d give it a shot. The neve 1057 eq/preamps were absolutely incredible on guitars, but I didn’t get time to render the tracks down with them on this. But I did use a real ssl fusion and a vintage pultec on the master for this, and I thought it was pretty incredible sounding, so I thought I’d share. Guitars are the same as before, my les paul with aldrich pickups, morin modded Marshall unboosted with one gain pulled, GGD’s new greenback IR plugin. Bass is my ESP/LTD AP-5, drums are superior, stock samples. Enjoy!

Yeah man, I've been raving about these guys in here for 6 months but nobody cares. There were some hiccups with a few versions of the software for me but the guys there are excellent with feedback and they ironed stuff out because it works great now. Really well thought out. It's a no brainer. I've done some shootouts for myself on plugins vs the hardware and I can get real real close now. But hardware will always win. None of which matters of course in a mix. It's the future of music production.

I think that’s what immediately drove me nuts; im
No pro, but just a few tweaks on guitars, or bass etc, yielded better results than ive ever gotten with plugins, Atleast so I think initially. There is no doubt there is an extra something with all of this, and it’s very apparent to me especially with saturation type devices like the HG2, or the fusion drive module that they have. Everything comes out way easier than with plugins there is just no doubt about it to me. So I’ll take it for what it is. For 100 bucks a month and having access to all their gear whenever you want, that’s kind of a no brainer to me if you are an audio nerd like me.

Sounds great! I remember being stoked about this a while back when White Sea Studio did a demo, good to see a real-world example. Now if I only knew what I was doing and what to reserve...

That's the thing even with my own hardware, I can set it and get what I want quicker. Plugins allow for tweaking but I'm always thinking maybe a nudge here, less there where as hardware sits evenly across the spectrum where I want it. Depth too. So you don't need it, but when it is this cheap, it is a no brainer. I don't even subscribe, I just buy credits and it only charges you for a few min, never in chunks of time. It only charges you for what you use. It's great.

Thanks man! Haha well, I wouldn’t take this for the best it could do, becsuse look who is driving here haha! But, it really is a fantastic idea. I’ve been toying with the idea for about a year to sign up for it, but I really think it’s a no brainer. Be careful though, after you hear some of these pieces that you are familiar with in plugin form, you are gonna be seriously upset!

I agree completely. This is almost easier than dare I say, routing all my own gear that’s hooked up to my Patchbay, which is pretty easy as is. But this is…. Pretty great. The depth and imaging is what gets me every time. For instance the ssl fusion plugin ( stereo image) it gets much more smeared in the center and sounds just, slightly fake ( I hate using that term) compared to the real thing which just, works. And that’s exactly what I find like you, the littlest movements with analog just work better than a plugin ever could. And that’s not to say you can’t make amazing sounds with plug-ins only, as that has been more than proven over and over, with people making amazing sounds with just plugins compared to people using analog gear. But it really is a lot easier and more satisfying much quicker.

You hit the nail right on the head. Having to route stuff either through my I/O or on the console itself, forgetting did I plug this into here? Is my return on 3 or 4? etc. You can literally audition it in the plugin and hear it real time in your actual mix. You can save your presets ( though they get lost if you update software - good to screen shoot) and then you upload them for final processing. Insert the track right into your project so it time aligns. Boom done. It's such a cool service. Pay for what you use, nothing more. If you were to add all that gear up, there is no way you'd ever get that much business in a little home studio to be able to pay it off quickly.

$100 a month, hard pass...

That’s for absolutely Unlimited everything…. It’s just a matter of what you wanna do I guess. Im sure there would be tons of dudes here if there was a place to pay 100 bucks a month and they can use any amp they want at anytime for as long as they want, and multiple.

For cheap digital? People are smarter than that....

I bought 50$ worth of credits. Lasts months because I use gear 2-3 min at a time. For example, you can rent the hardware for as low as 5 or 6$ for 30 min for example. So in my case it runs down every 60 seconds but i see the amount being deducted. It doesn't take 1$ at a time either. It takes cents. If you were a competitive studio, 100$ a month would be nothing as long as you can get the times you want.

A subscription for 1s and 0s...u own nothing for $1200 a year.

You mean like…. Netflix? A cell phone bill? Amazon music? Or any other subscription people pay money for and nothing to show for it? :)

That doesn’t concern me personally. If you were saving 100 dollars a month towards one of these units, it would take you Atleast 3 years to save for just one of these units, Atleast. That’s on the low end of time. Or, you can use them whenever you want, 200k worth of real analog gear, for as long as you want. I vote that personally, even though many of these units on this website I could afford no problem.

The phone is a necessity...and for $1200 it makes zero sense imo.

And for some people it may be a necessity to make their records sound the way they want too, it’s all in what you are after. I personally can’t justify it from THAT angle obviously, but if I was even remotely busy it would be a no brainer for me personally.
