I make them. They are based on the vintage Gibson dirty fingers pickups. A bit over 16k and use 3 thick ceramic magnet. This pickup isn’t on my website yet. I just release it 3-4 weeks ago.
Balanced pickups ? The bridge pickup is the only pickup you should ever use , that's why many guitars only come with a bridge pickup . The ones that come with two are mistakes .
I've had plenty of one pickup guitars. But I like having two in certain situations. Otherwise, I find it a compromise.
However, my one PRS SC sounds great in the middle position for almost everything. Crazy.

Thanks,
So how does that work? I'll have to read up on it. I assume that it plugs into your outlet and then out to the amp.
Maybe between this and acoustically treating the room. I'd love to have that great tone I had yesterday, every day.

Yes, that's how it works. Plug it into the wall, then your amp(s) plug into the front of the Variac. I run mine to a power strip and then run the amps off of that. It's great for biasing tubes as well. It keeps your bias consistent regardless of wall voltage fluctuations. The Variac will vary if the wall voltages changes, but adjustments are not frequently required for the most part.
