Hey man... hope all is well. What are some good year Greco's? Im actually in the hunt for a great LP style MIJ.... Have my R0 as main axe but looking for something as backup or just to sub in once in awhile. Have Wolfetone Timbre Wolf/Marshallhead set to throw in one so not worried about electronics. Greco's and Orville by Gibsons have always peaked my interest a bit. Cheers
Hey Cory! All is good, hope with you as well…..
For Grecos I’d look for anything above an EG500, from 1977-87….some 500s are Solidbody and some can be chambered so pay attention to the weights. 8lbs and up should be solid. But an EG700 will be solid and may have nitro as well. I can shoot you some examples later.
My recent one is a 1980 EG550, weighing in @10lbs. Came in 3 days direct from Ishibashi in Tokyo. 560 shipped.

Authentic Gibson Les Paul's are one of the most copied guitar designs ever for good reason.

What’s a good source for these Edwards? I just see them on Reverb and CL.

I've got an older MIJ Edwards Jimmy Page relic LP LTS-112 and it's great for a gigging guitar. Plays great, lightweight all night and no stress over leaving it up on stage, unlike a legit LP.
I also have a MIJ Bacchus P90 LP and it's really nice. Heavy as my Gibsons. The Bacchus (Deviser) stuff is nice.

A buddy of mine who is generally quite knowledgeable with guitar brand histories had this to say about it-

I’ve only got internet rumors to go off of as these weren’t even on my radar until recently, from a purchasing standpoint, anyway. Comparing my buddies E-II to this thing, like I said, they feel identical, not the specs, but everything else about the build and finish. I don’t mean ‘kinda like it’ All Gotoh hardware, too boot.

Just like Kapo said, the bridge is pretty high to compensate for the angle. The Orville isn’t as high, I’ll try to remember to post a comparison shot later. That’s the best side-view I have on my phone right now. I had to raise the action a bit because it was LOW.

Edwards discontinued all their Gibson-esque guitars in September, so the chances to score a new, unplayed one are going to get slimmer and I doubt the prices are going to drop. If you want to get one, now is the time to do it!
No no, I meant the headstock angle. Not the neck pocket angle. You know, how Epiphones have a 14 degree tilt back headstock and Gibson have a 17 degree

love my JS greco.....now I want a white one. Edwards, burny, greco or tokai......don't care.....

Anyone tried the FGN neo classic? I was tempted to order one when they had the black friday sale. Seems like another alternative to the Edwards, Burny, etc.

Yes, my buddy has a LS10. Superb build quality ...but heavy as fuck!

they look nice. check out the yamaha studio lords also. I got my Greco off of reverb and the transaction was great. had a little hiccup on communication at first. think that was because it was the weekend and dude took the weekend off....literally. got it from Japan in like 5 days. I would not hesitate to deal with Ishibashi. They had a few of those listed.

This is the Reverb store I got the Edwards through- https://reverb.com/shop/gakkido?utm...os-share&utm_campaign=shop&utm_content=406680

I actually had the guitar on a watch list and then saw someone post the same guitar in an Edwards group, leaving a review for the company. Since I had never imported something from Japan, I wanted to do a little research on what to expect. The dude leaving the review said he just ordered it and a few days later it showed up at his door, he didn’t have to pay Customs anything, so I bought the guitar immediately and that’s exactly how it worked out.

The seller is extremely communicative, updated me twice before the guitar was out of his hands and even answered some questions, almost immediately, when I had them. Guitar was packed well enough that it survived a trip around the world in a gig bag without a mark on it. He also had that thing shipped in about 12 hours from the time I bought it, had the shipping label within about 30 minutes and had to have shipped it the first thing the following day.

Nice. I may consider one then. The import fees and taxes are what keep me from buying anything outside the US.

What’s the weight on that black one?

When I've bought mine, I've never paid more than the price + shipping from Japan. No extra fees at all. Plus, they all have gotten here in 5 business days or less. I've bought from the second hand eBay/Reverb sellers and direct from Ishibashi.

The Japanese are amazing shippers. My YJM came with a personal note ( much like the famous Mr sparkle episode " harro investor'") and a small origami crane. For real! I love the Japanese, just on point where business and honour/respect are concerned. They also love rock n roll so there are some sweet axes to be had there.

I was on Reverb last night and had to force myself off. I’m so damn in love with this Edwards I want one for every tuning. I’m considering flipping the Orville or the DRRI I never use to fund another one.

Dropped the Zakk Wylde EMG’s in this over the weekend and spent yesterday trying to nail the No More Tears tone. That’ll be a tricky one to nail, there’s so much fuckin’ hair on it it can put a 70’s porn flick to shame. My neighbors heard more pinch harmonics yesterday than they have in the last 16 months I’ve lived there.
