Much has been said about the new Metallica, but...

Still haven’t made it through this whole album but I found I enjoyed it FAR more cranked up in my truck than I did listening to it quietly on anything. The annoying treble on the kicks tends to get out of the way when it’s louder. I had to get over my preference for guitar tones I thought I’d prefer to hear in songs or else I’d never have been able to listen to Zep.

Overall, I was really surprised at how the energy of the songs changed by cranking them up, which is something that went away with brickwalling, now that we’re coming out the other side of that, I have to remind myself to turn the volume knob up half the time.
A Crate Blue Voodoo and B52 sound pretty good when cranked up in a room too….?
And as I recall my band days, so do shitty songs.

I can agree on the Blue Voodoo but I’ve never heard a B52 sound good  My best friend bought one of those B52 heads back in the 00’s and showed up to band practice with it after he went through every fuckin’ Randall and Peavey head (they all broke down on him….it’s a thing with him) and it took me a solid week of busting his balls before he returned it and stuck with a XXX that didn’t shit the bed on him.

The b52 tube head made by egnater and tweaked by Friedman was shockingly good . I was impressed
