Comparing anything today to the 50's, pretty much "lack of skill" across the board.
Of course I think me at thirteen is close to someone aged 25 and above today.
Well I hope by 25...
An example that needs more pics.

I wish I could say someday...
IMHO Gil Yaron gets SO CLOSE to almost perfect with some of his early pieces.....

If you ever see one..............grab it and go into debt if you have to.

What is that horrendous thing. (n):bleh:

Not even for $5..................................for real.

No Yaron?...........at least look at a Bartlett FFS.
C'mon now, some people love flame tops!
I'm more plain top or gold top personally, but some love the flame!

I LOVE a flametop on the right guitar and done well.

The brown thing above looks like a fresh turd with ringworm..............for real.

Fun fact for you..............flame has been so overdone in recent decades as SOFT big leaf maple from the west coast is SO easy to enhance/dye for MORE OTT flame. A real flame and hard to come by is Eastern Hardrock Maple.................this is THE stuff of the 1950s. Add to that NOTHING compares to pre 1960's Brazilian Rosewood for fingerboards. Once you play one yourself you ONLY then get it.

Ive never even had the oppurtunity to play an old Gibson, let alone hold one.
Never seen one in the wild that wasn't behind glass.

Might not want to try one?
I might not want to know what I am missing...

? agree!
It's fucking everywhere...
Funny thing is I'm a 100% Strat player..........I see a Strat as a TOOL guitar and a 1950s LP as an art piece to be handled with EXTREME reverence and care.

I started out playing Les Pauls but once I could actually play a Strat comfortably I never looked back.

I still have a few good Les Pauls for just every now and then..................very rarely.

Post up some pics and clips doggie!

Honestly Donnie, that tops not for me.
The black knobs a switch tip stand out like sore thumbs too.

I imagine it sounds killer though!

McNaught is in the same camp as Thorn and Driskell - Liberace guitars. :D

Owned a single cut for a short white. STUNNING to look at and had a real meaty girth
to it but it was heavy and the pickups were direct mount to the body - non-adjustable.
It was kinda an LP wanna-be.

The way McNaught does his headstock and fretboard biding is freaking gorgeous.

Liberace!

Really don't like guitars that look like dining room furniture though I make an exception for Rickenbackers, recently sold a few, still have a 330 Fireglo, 370 Blueburst, 620 Fireglo, and 4003 Fireglo.

I don't like fancy wood tops, I prefer solid colors and gloss; and engineering which is why I purchased original Steinberger L guitar and bass (still have this) back in the early '90s, and why I purchased my Gittler Titanium - the company that makes them also makes aircraft and missile components for military; the Gittler Titanium is made from aircraft grade titanium.

The model I own is now known as the "Classic":
