Lol. They are essentially stealing the look Palermo guitars and other builders have been offering for years. They just have to have it all eh? But yeah these Def appeal more to me than the Frankie. Reason being, feels like a nod vs an all out tribute copy that can only remind you of one guy. You play a striped frankie, you better deliver.

I kinda like the look of the Relic gtrs but they do look like other guitars being built and sold.

I think it's cool, lets you get the EVH vibe without the paintjob.

The guitar I've wanted EVH to produce the most is the basic Striped model without the paintjob. Single pickup, single knob, top mount Floyd Rose, quartersawn maple neck. The kind of guitar Charvel was famous for but they don't make anymore.

This is a step in that direction and I like it. I'd never buy a Frankie but this I could see myself wanting.

However, this new Wolfgang is the cream of the crop for me:

I agree with all the comments re: basswood. It does help tighten up the tone to have layers of grain filler and glossy paint. I’ve got a White/Black and Bee stripe series that I built out with Musikraft necks and NFT Floyd’s. They sound OK - but even using Alder would be a step up from spongey, tubby basswood. The absolute best sounding guitar I’ve ever owned is the Musikraft Northern Ash / oil finish Frank in my sig. If I was considering one of these new EVH relics, I’d save a bit more coin and get a Palermo or a Chubtone.

I'm glad they're releasing the Frankies without the stripes. I've played a few and they're surprisingly good guitars. They play and sound way better than you'd expect for a "gimmick" guitar. The solid colors make them less "I'm such an Eddie fanboy, look at how great I am at cosplaying Eddie, isn't Eddie just dreamy you guys" and more of something that can be taken seriously.

Not the biggest fan of the black or the red but the white one looks great.

Also, did anybody notice this new hottness on the site? I've never considered how a Wolfgang might look in gold, but wow.

I couldn't have said it better. I have a Frankie and it is a great guitar . Plays great and sounds great and I usually don't care for basswood . I would never play out with that guitar because I do think it's gimmicky and people would expect you to play like Van Halen . The relic series would work though . I'm sure they play and sound good.

I think the non-striped Franky's look great!, unfortunately I'm not a big fan of basswood either, I had this partscaster put together fairly recently, Fender Mexican alder body, Musikraft roasted birdseye neck, Jalen bridge pickup, Duncan Hot Stack, Demeter preamp, plays and sounds killer!
