Hello gain brothers.
I have a Rivera k-tré 120 which I love, Im pairing it right now with a Portcity OS 212 with WGS veteran 30s, I like it, yet I would love to have a 412 and the contenders are :
-Rivera k412t
-Fryette D412
-Orange 412 with k100s.

Not able to try any of the cabs with my k-tré 120, if I get one of them it will be sight unseen.
Opinions, thoughts and suggestions are welcome !

I’ve only played that amp once and it was through the Rivera cab. It sounded amazing. The FB is pretty bright being front loaded. I would assume the Orange would be the opposite. I’d go with the Rivera.

Thank you for chiming in. I got some contradictory reports about the p50s, although the Fryette is top notch as a 412, the p50s seem ro be a hit or miss, I don't know... But the same applies for Rivera, people who used one and those who opened and checked the cab from the inside confirm it's a rugged top quality built. I did mention the Orange 412 since it has k100s which judging by a Rivera youtube demo seem to retain tightness and clarity, but I never tried them before.

Right now I have K-Tre connected to oversized Marshall cab with K100 and I would not name this setup as a maintaining clarity and tightness rig. Lows are huge and hard to control and K100's are quite grainy/sandy/sizzling in the area of upper mids and highs overlap. Matter of taste of course, one day I like that sound, the other day I hate it.

Best 4x12 I’ve used with the k-tre is the Bogner front loaded uberkab (v30/T-75 x pattern).

I played all three with the same speakers (V30s). I liked the VHT FB cab the best. The Rivera K412T is second. I never really cared for the Orange cab.

That said, speakers can change everything. I did really like the Orange HP cab with the K100s. I was using a first gen Knucklehead at the time and it ruled. At one point, I used a Rivera K cab and the Orange HP cab in a stack. Glorious. I would vote for either of those two.

Is it the mode four cab by any chance ? Kerry King swears by those over the regular Marshall cabs. The k-tré has huge amount of low end, thus I thought that the k100 could help the amp breath and kick harder.

Since you did mention the Uberkab, I came across a Redseven 412 ad with the v30/T-75 combo, I don't know if it's as effective as the Uberkab, but it's rear loaded.

Indeed, speakers make or break the tone. So far it looks one can't go wrong with Rivera's k412

As far as the p50's go. I couldn't get them out of mu FB fast enough. It now has WGS V30 and T75 clones. Bright but sounds amazing with certain amps.

Not related to your 4x12 question per se but I have a Rivera that I run through a 2x12 w a Vet 30 and Invader 50 and it sounds massive! Curious of what mix you may go with in a 4x12?

Yes, Mode four slanted cab. I love that cab, but somehow I love/hate K-Tre through it. Big cab, doesn't like bass heavy amps. Maybe K100 in a 'regular' size cab would work better, still I don't like that K-Tre sizzle through K100. Kerry can swear, but 2203KK compared to the K-Tre is pretty stiff amp :)

That's funny, I used to have a Mode Four cab! Agreed that it doesn't like bass heavy amps.

I have a Marshall KK, love it to death, glorious hot rodded Marshall tone with clarity, tightness, and oomph due to the big bottles and iron, I use it with a Portcity OS 212, oversized cabs are known for adding lowend, bass, and sometimes the result is a mushy and loose tone. The k-tré has extra lowend for days, I plugged my 5 string bass and it sounded like if Jason Newsted and Rex Brown got together for a one night stand lol. I keep hearing that the k-tré sounds tighter and supreme with Rivera cabs, some say you can't go wrong with the Uberkab or any quality 4x12 with v30s and t75 in cross pattern. No Uberkab at the moment, but there I found an ad for a Redseven 412 with v30s and t75 but as I said previously, I can't test the cab, it will be a leap of faith

Honestly the WGS speakers are very nice, I would not change my veteran 30s, it's just that I want to have a 4x12 for it's typical acoustic qualities, I think the Rivera fits the bill but who knows where gas may lead me to lol

Hard to say, I'm sure it'll sound good.
I did prefer the front loaded cab, felt less boomy.

I just find that mixing speakers gives you more of a full, 3D sound, if done well. I know you'll end up with something killer! Best of luck in your tone hunt
