Today I have a day off today

I have three guitar shipping boxes plus packing material in my shed taking up space for this reason.

I think the logical way to look at this is, how much space is it taking up, and how much is that space worth (or costing you).

If you calculate that it cost you $6 a month to store a box, that's madness to keep it.

I have a small place so space is always at a premium. My shed/workshop is 12x16 and a mess but I just didn't feel like cleaning it until the heat slacks off. Maybe in the morning. I need to build another workbench and some shelves. I have a Harley project I need to put some more time in on as soon as it isn't a thousand degrees. More interior finishing. Never ending....

Yup, I'm about to clean out a bunch of stuff. I agree the heat was so bad it was hard to do anything.

It’s my first actual day off since like the first week of July.

I’m pretty happy about it and have lots of fun activities planned.

I’ll be sure to keep all you queers posted throughout the day, especially the ones that are clicking on the thread just to tell me you don’t care.

Because you do care.

Kthxbye

Awesome.

I've got the opposite problem. I've been laid off since July 31st :(

If I had a garage I could make a bigger mess before I started cleaning things up.

Congrats on your home improvement projects and your day off. Sounds like it was productive.

I like home improvement. They say more and more people are unable to handle maintenance and fixes on their home. I can't afford to pay someone else so I do it myself. Heck I couldn't afford to pay someone to build a cabin so I built it myself, lol.

The electrical in the house needs a lot of work. I've been slowly rerouting circuits and adding a few here and there, but ultimately my old screw in fuse panel needs to be updated. I'd be comfortable swapping the panel myself, but I'll eventually call an electrician to update my meter and service.

My wife likes vintage homes and I do too the bones are usually incredible in terms of materials quality, provided it's been cared for. But that electrical.... My last place had groundless plugs and aluminum wiring through a lot of it. Are you trying to get 200 amp service to the house? That'd be my suggestion. They forced me into a smart meter but the pole it's on is a long way from the house. Possibly something to think about if you are concerned about RF pollution and you have the option. In the city they usually are mounted to the house.

I’m retired. Think I might go watch the neighbor finish his roof he’s putting on.young guy, hard worker. The struggle is real.

I will be upping to 200amp for sure. My house is absolutely prime for Solar so I would like to go electric as much as possible (except my work truck). I figure my roof has 4 or 5 good years left in it so I’m prepping now to do some panels then. I think I’m insulated well enough to get away with heat pumps for heat.

Sounds good. After messing with shingles a few times I did a metal roof on my current place. It might be worth looking into to go along with your solar arrangement when the time comes. A few bucks more but if you are staying permanently you'll never deal with a roof again unless a storm blows it off. Only downside is it's noisier when it rains. Good luck with your projecting, it's nice to hear you share. And be safe.

I had thought about a home improvement thread since about 30 percent of my life consists of that right now, more previously. My favorite part is building decks, hands down. Small buildings after that. Getting creative with a hammer and some boards. There is a lot of enjoyment in new construction for me.

I have completely gutted and redone my house. Everything. Plus it’s an old jenny lynn style so no stud walls. Solid wood everywhere. And it’s all American chestnut.

I’ve been selling much more then buying lately. It sucks.

But at this point even doing renovations yourself is stupid expensive
so true
rebuilt my house in 08 from the ground up. could not afford it today and probably wouldn't get the HE loan

just paid $22 for a lousy fucking GFCI outlet at Lowes. they were $12 four years ago

good thing I can install it myself. an electrician would have been $150 more for the service call
